BRISTOL vs TIGERS - Sat 27 Feb 21 (1300)
Great, gutsy gritty win against Wasps. 80 minute performance with some big positives and a few (well 2) big negatives. Likely suspensions to our 2 best back rowers will test our strength in depth for sure.
Away to Bristol is about as tough as it gets at the moment. Doubt Martin will be released sadly as he will likely be in the England bubble, might be wrong. Could recall Lewis from loan but reckon we have enough strength in depth to field a strong 23.
15 Freddie Steward
14 Nemani Nadolo (Van Wyk if Nadolo still unavailable)
13 Matias Moroni
12 Matt Scott
11 Kini Murimurivalu
10 Zack Henry
9 Richard Wigglesworth
1 Luan de Bruin
2 Julián Montoya
3 Dan Cole
4 Callum Green
5 Tomás Lavanini
6 Ollie Chessum
7 Tommy Reffell
8 Cyle Brink
Replacements
16 Tom Youngs
17 Nephi Leatigaga
18 Joe Heyes
19 Cameron Henderson
20 Harry Wells
21 Jack Van Poortvliet
22 Johnny McPhillips
23 Guy Porter
Lots of great stuff again from JvP when he came on today but I though Wigglesworth did a fantastic job at controlling the game so would opt for him again and have JvP up the tempo and bring impetus off the bench. Would like to see Guy porter either starting at centre or getting a spot on the bench if fit again. If Martin is back from England he slots straight in at 6 but otherwise I'd give Wallace or Chessum a start.

Re: BRISTOL vs TIGERS - Sat 27 Feb 21 (1300)
I’d like to see Wallace given a shot, especially against a quick set in Bristols play.
Probably similar team except I’d have Wallace at 6.
Also tempted to leave van Wyk there if fit as his defence and high balls have been important. Nadolo off the bench would be fun!
Tongue in cheek here but a back row of Brink, Reffell, Nadolo anyone?!...

Against Bristol I can definitely see us wanting Wallace with a bit of experience in the 23. If not for others in our pack having a enforced rest I would have had Green having a week off for Henderson. As it is I'd be tempted to go 6-2 Bench and add Wallace in to the 23.OakhamTiger32 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 6:10 pm Great, gutsy gritty win against Wasps. 80 minute performance with some big positives and a few (well 2) big negatives. Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Fitness depending as I think he might have been one to have had COVID, but he would be deserved of a shotOakhamTiger32 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 6:21 pmActually thats a great shout I'd forgotten about Wallace.. agreedRunTigerRun wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 6:18 pm I’d like to see Wallace given a shot, especially against a quick set in Bristols play.

Given we are missing our best 2 back rowers a backrow of Wallace Reffell Brink would still be pretty solid and great at the breakdown

I'd forgotten Wallace. Green has been so solid that with 2 big names absent in the backrow I think I'd opt for our strongest lock pairing which I think right now is Green and Lavanini to try and avoid sweeping changes in the pack.TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 6:22 pmAgainst Bristol I can definitely see us wanting Wallace with a bit of experience in the 23. Re: BRISTOL vs TIGERS - Sat 27 Feb 21 (1300)
Agree going for double 7s, strangest back row we can put out right now. I hope either Van Wyk or Nadolo are fit as against the backs of Bris, their experience in defence will be absolutely crucial if we are to take anything for the game. I think a LBP would be acceptable as Ashton Gate is a tough place to go.
Re: BRISTOL vs TIGERS - Sat 27 Feb 21 (1300)
I'd go for the best scrummaging and mauling outfit possible, whatever that is.
Bristol's maul attack is decent.

Montoya at 8. Youngs at Hooker.

Re: BRISTOL vs TIGERS - Sat 27 Feb 21 (1300)
Borthwick likes a 3rd lineout jumper, Brink, Reffell and Wallace are not jumpers.
So I see Wells at 6 or potentially Chessum gets another run out

Re: BRISTOL vs TIGERS - Sat 27 Feb 21 (1300)
I’ve got a feeling that Wells may show up at 6, with Brink at 8 and Tommy or Luke at 7. The way we have been making inroads has been power through the forwards, I just don’t see that happening with Luke and Tommy playing.
We need to play our game to win, and not to try and nullify their game to ‘get something’.

Yep fair point RB. Somehow I’m sure too that Wells will get the nod at 6 but kind of like the option of Wallace and Reffell. Wells has a fair history filling in at 6 so seems a likely optionRagingBull wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 8:22 pm Borthwick likes a 3rd lineout jumper, Brink, Reffell and Wallace are not jumpers.
