Interesting, this one! Having only just signed for us wonder if he’s been offered new terms to keep mega French offers at bay!

Similar, especially since watching an interview on YouTube with Jan who stated it was him that brought him to the club, all looked a bit worrying. Great news.RichieB wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 10:55 amI am also very surprised at this - but fantastic news nevertheless. I think his wife and young family went back to Australia and with a bit of friction between the club and other pacific island players I more than half expected Nemani to be off at the end of his contract (whenever that was).FrontRowUnionMember wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 10:51 am Positive signings all so far.
Marfo addresses a position where more depth is always useful, and may just have a point to prove. Whitcombe likewise, he’s looked fairly comfortable in the minutes he’s had so far.
Chessum has impressed me. You can’t teach size, but he adds some presence, and doesn’t look out of his depth in the first team.
Kelly is an interesting one, likewise he hasn’t looked phased stepping up, and with the rumours the IRFU were sniffing around, getting him tied to a new deal is good news.
Nadolo I’m semi surprised at, as he officially only signed to join at the start of this season, but we saw him early due to the handover of last season. Wouldn’t have thought he’d only signed a one year deal at the time, you’d assume ot would have been two years, so another 12 months left anyhow. Unless we’ve offered him a longer deal on reduced terms maybe, stability for him, and frees up cash short term for us.

Wiese has been a great addition. Getting him tied down for longer is a smart bit of business.
Really liked his comments about loving being at the club, but feels he has missed out to not play infront of a packed crowd. Reads like a guy that has really taken to the club.
These are largely guys signed last summer, so maybe we only offered shorter deals? Maybe Henderson, Van Wyk, Scott, Moroni, Brink still to come?

Yes but with the Cheetahs being kicked out of the Pro14, I think a lot of players were looking for opportunities elsewhere, we may have only got him on a short term deal. Extending now before he gets capped is very smart.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Seems like a decent plan to me. Look at the players that are important for the next few years that are going to attract interest from other clubs and get them signed up to longer term deals at a time when the financial expectations may not be as high. Added benefit of stopping some of the incessant player churn that we have seen over the last few years. Those that want out, get them out quickly and off the wage book, those that want in and fit the plans, get them signed up to increase stability.

Given Diaz Bonilla was signed on a short term, and we haven't seen him in the extension list (lets face it he isn't going to be announced after Wiese) I suspect we'll see a new Fly half in the coming four announcements.
Gonna go out on a limb and say all the rest are new signings
Van Wyk
Van Staden
New lock ( Kruis or Launchbury)
New Fly Half

Clearly all the re-signings are excellent news but in the case of Nadolo and especially Wiese, they have not been at Tigers very long so why would they resign so quickly unless they were only on a 1 season deal??????
Without hope we are nothing, keep the faith, a Tiger for eternity

Nadolo probably coming to the latter stages of career may have only been given a season or 2 deal and it's now beneficial to offer a longer term stability for his future.
Wiese was someone looking to leave a Cheetahs team whochad just been removed from the league thwy were in, may well have been a shortish term signing. There is agood chance he'll be turning a lot of heads with performances and we want to stave off intrest by securing a long term future.
With a new coach coming in the club may also have not wanted to over commit to long term signings of players before knowing how the team may gel going forward.

Either that our Tigers recognise their value to the club and wanted to ward off any interest from other clubs, especially the French clubs who have just been awarded a massive TV deal.

Are the Barrett brothers those to come.....
To win is not as important as playing with style!

My guess would be Van Staden, Van Wyk and a lock
