Sorry - mine was a follow-on from Costelow. I guess having lived in Swansea for a decade and worked with one of the selectors (the late Wyn Williams), I had a taste of the cynicism and tribalism that operated there (as well evidenced by Jiffy amongst others). I hoped Costelow might get a decent run unlike some who've been tempted back as bench-fodder or worse - Tigers could make him a decent offer if his chances haven't developed much after a couple of years.

Interestingly Hurd has been added into the Senior squad list, yet Dimen is on the Development list.RagingBull wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 11:42 am So we have at Tighthead

Though De Bruin was primarily a Tighthead...

He was and if he does leave will definitely need replacing with a world class prop otherwise I reckon we will be fairly short of proven quality in this departmentRagingBull wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 11:52 am Pretty sure he was signed to cover both positions equally

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE V: Borthwick Strikes Back
LH - Genge, DeBruin, Leatigaga, Whitcombe
TH - Cole, Heyes, Hurd, Dimen, Rowntree
11am announcement on the dot, but nothing at 12, so not a popcorn day. Given Gigena’s departure, and the apparent schedule of De Bruin going at the end of the year, looking a little light on experience and balance.
At LH we will have Genge as your likely starter, with Leatigaga as bench option, then looking at developing prop in Whitcombe if either are unavailable.
At TH we will have Cole as the likely starter, with Heyes as natural backup, gaining good experience now. We then have 3x developing options should either of those be missing.
It’s good to see recruitment with an eye on longer term solutions, local lad too. But I’d have liked to see a match ready specialist LH come in as Leatigaga (and for now De Bruin) are flexible enough to cover both sides, so we’d have ended up with
LH - Genge, New LH, Leatigaga/De Bruin, Whitcombe
TH - Cole, Heyes, Leatigaga/De Bruin, Dimen, Rowntree

Good post from somebody who clearly knows much more about the front row than me, thank you. De Bruin has been fantastic and I really do hope he stays, especially as he can cover both TH and LH. I really hope whoever we sign is of proven world class quality.FrontRowUnionMember wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 12:21 pm LH - Genge, DeBruin, Leatigaga, Whitcombe

Same in the lock department; lots of future potential but a quality replacement for Lavanini and Enever is needed.

In the lock department we only need one signing to replace both of those, there's enough in the rest of the squad, what we need is a proven World class lock.OakhamTiger32 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 12:26 pmGood post from somebody who clearly knows much more about the front row than me, thank you. Kruis would be great. Perfect type of player to bring on Martin and Henderson

Heyes is starting to develop into a quality tighthead mind, but I do think this demonstrates a need to sign a more experienced prop for next season.RagingBull wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 11:42 am So we have at Tighthead

We technically do also have Bower on the Loosehead side, but I'm yet to be convinced about him and he turns 30 next week so I doubt we'll see him move to far up the pecking order.FrontRowUnionMember wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 12:21 pm LH - Genge, DeBruin, Leatigaga, Whitcombe
