Massive overreaction by Twelvetrees irrespective of the action of the non playing staff.
I cannot believe that 36 is actually 32 years old! so he should have reacted in a more mature manner given his Tigers upbringing. :smt002
Not that he would get back into the present Tigers 1st team.

The whole incident was funny in a pathetic sense.
Yarde versus Twelvetrees for the title of best hair.
What wasn't funny though is that Du Preez got away with smacking Harris in the back of the head and 12T got yellow carded for a push.

Torpedoing the rucks wasn't well refereed either way in that game to be fair, Slater for Gloucester got away with a flying shoulder charge to the head of a Sale player earlier in the game. Ref had a shocker all evening.
No, not that one!

Remember, whatever you do to the smallest of the backs you do to his prop, and you can't avoid the rucks and mauls forever...

It would be great to hear that Danny Cipriani had decided to become a referee. Oh! what fun.

You know for sure he'd try and out Nigel the worst bits of Nigel...

And why not if Wayne's body swerve to show Spencer the space yesterday is anything to go by the Danny could be perfect interference material!

The water carrier was in the technical area behind his barrier and the ball was coming towards him. Instinct to get the ball or sinister, Twelvetrees was an idiot in how he reacted. The water carrier was in his specified area.
Strange how we remember things to suit or perceptions but I though the water carrier (who is not some random bloke but a member of the playing or coaching staff) reached over the advertising hoarding to pick up the ball for no reason than to interfere with the game.
So though Twelvetrees over reacted the greater (red card offence) penalty, should have prevailed

Red card for Twelvetrees :smt018 :smt017 :smt017 that is the penalty that should be levied at Sale, I suggest their Captain who is responsible for his team, his team staff cheated, bit like Cricket.

Had the game not been so close in the scoreline, nothing would have been made of it.

This has happened before at other grounds, including Welford Road.

We accept the subs being allowed to go pitch side to keep warm, fair enough.
Physio/Dr may enter to attend injured players.
Ball boys to retrieve the ball (or hand another to the player immediately on request.)

Water carriers should be like the crowd- well behind the fences until summoned on by the officials. If the ground layout doesn't permit them to be behind barriers they should be expected to try and get out of the way of the ball even if they are in a designated area.

No other person should come from behind the fence without permission of the ref/touch judge/4th official.

Sanctions should range from penalty try as a minimum immediate sanction to possible citing with reversal of result (or deduction of 4 points if the game was lost) for any active interference like we saw. Red cards and bans of water boys are not punishments so the team has to be punished.

What if a member of the crowd grabs a ball that might have gone into the crowd proper or might have just glanced the top of the advertising hording?

Water carriers are permitted to be pitchside but are restricted to when they can go onto the pitch. It could easily have been a Sale fan who went to touch the ball...if fans were in the stadium.

That's why I suggest that the offending teams captain, if cheating, should be red carded. my bold.

Lots of "ifs" and "coulds" to try to argue it wasn't a big deal. But, the score was close, it wasn't a fan that did it, it did spark a lot of handbags and it is a problem. Those are the facts, the hypotheticals are just hypothetical.

Ok. Tin hat on, but if it would benefit Tigers? I’d do it. Of course, usually I’d have had a pint or 2 by then.
I find your lack of faith......disturbing.
