Re: Saracens v Leicester Tigers XV 12th December 2020
I know it’s been confirmed on the Sarries website, but has this been posted on the Tigers website at all?
(Apologies if it has and I’ve just missed it)
News and updates from the club in general seem to be much slower without Bondi around - shows just how much us as fans value someone like that for what’s going on!

I imagine they have structured playing contracts to not start until the season does and those that are on running contracts are on furlough so I agree I think it's no go.RagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 3:46 pm Have people thought that Nottingham might not be able to afford to have their team for training?
I would imagine they are not paying their squad currently, and too have them play a game would require them to pay them.
And we can’t just loan them out players for this game since most likely the players that would be on loan would be in this squad.
Also, the Tigers squad is in a secure bubble and neither Notts, Coventry nor Loughborough University our three close options for a friendly have the funds to operate that. Sarries will be going through those measures because they can afford and want to keep their squad playing. Professional squads won't play them it they aren't Covid secure.
RB has it right, there's not lots of options for friendlies. No point whining about friendly opposition it's not like there's a sell out crowd and TV coverage to raise funds for Sarries.

I said previously we shouldn't go anywhere near them until we have to.RagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 6:18 pm and...
What would you want us to do if we have to play them next season?
Sorry we refuse to play them
To win is not as important as playing with style!

Tigers, Bears, Chiefs ,Falcons.
Surely now Saffacens must adopt the name "Cheaters"......
What could be more apt?

We are legally obliged to play them having signed up to the league.
In this instance, we have a choice.

A reciprocal helping hand ....we should be grateful , as but for their transgressions we would be in their position right now.

That isn't certain as we wouldn't of selected the same teams at the seasons resumption.

Perhaps they should make it a pay per view event as a fund raiser.
I am sure a few of us would put a tenner into the Tigers pot, and maybe Sarries can receive whatever from their fans.

That's what happened with Newcastle versus Ealing but I think there were a lot of technical difficulties.

It seems you are right JP14, although it sounds like the good folks got a refund.
Surely though, it’s the future, for friendlies, a league games maybe even academy games.

Pay per view for A league , Academy ,friendlies etc does sound good. Now however, there has to be - and would in anyway be - a balancing of cost between streaming/broadcasting and take up.Hard to make these type of 'events' financially viable on a regular basis.
Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

Getting regular 2nd team rugby has to be a benefit for all teams, with a bit if collusion between teams you could ensure one team wasn't overly stacked with experience if the other team had injuries in the squad & was playing more youngsters, it doesn't need to be a competition, it just needs to be competitive
Watching the Extras at WR used to be entertaining & a times better rugby, hearing Eric Miller swearing loudly when he dropped a pass was an added bonus, Niall Malone running a very flat backline was a vision of future rugby.

Pity Wigglesworth is banned, it would have been very interesting to have him as our Captain.
