Paolo is a bit of a giveaway.
Not necessarily,Paulo Wanchope of Manchester City fame was Costa Rican.

Difference between Paolo and Paulo though, the latter being Portuguese/Spanish I think.

The primary language of Costa Rica is Spanish. Paulo is a Spanish name.

The primary language of Italy is Italian. Paolo is an Italian name.

Hope that helps :smt023

Nope not confused. I meant Johnny Williams and had forgotten that Eddie let Mallinder take the reigns for that game. However, much he distanced himself from the side there's no way Eddie didn't have a say in who was selected.
I don't think he had a say potentially. Again I point out to how few of the players selected that day have been in an EPS since, let alone capped. Could he have had some other kind of involvement that wasn't selection, possibly? Similarly, he could have seen the squad and given Mallinder the nudge to field Marchant for example who got his first cap against Wales a few weeks later on the 11th of August.

Whatever the case, I felt that Jones' involvement that day and in the build up was very minimal.
Yep one of the most detail orientated coaches we've had, certainly the most detail orientated since Sir Clive definitely took no notice of the game. He had bigger fish to fry and so wasn't there preparing them but I'd put money on him having someone either observing or recording the training sessions and a hand if not personally selecting the squad. It was a very young squad so he was probably looking less at the world cup and more at the period after. Entirely in keeping with his previous to look at young props (Heyes in the training squad along with Obano before the AIs).

I think Johnny Williams would have been considered alongside or possibly instead of Lawrence had he remained in the UK for the AIs this season. Eddie was looking for another option to straighten the line in attack.
What you have described is for someone as detailed as Eddie Jones is still minimal involvement in my opinion.

A player I'd take here if he were to end up available at the end of the season. Might be a bit pricey though at a time when the salary cap is reducing and we are concentrating on keeping our pack together and the current back three options are already under contract.

The back 3 is probably the area where we’re already best stocked.

Very true we have good options. Nadolo and Murimurivalu are fantastic players that I'd never thought we'd see in red, white and green but they are both into their 30s. Ibitoye is a game changer in his early 20s. Probably to much of a luxury signing as things stand currently.

We could attempt to convert him into an outside centre much like wasps have done with Odogwu as they are similar sort of players and Odogwu looks like a nice player this season

In my view, Ibitoye has better footwork whereas Odogwu relies more on leg power to beat defenders which is why he does a pretty decent job at outside centre. Hence why I'm not sure Ibitoye being converted to outside centre would work and furthermore I think he would ask for money that Tigers would not be prepared to pay him.

Ibitoye does not exactly leave Agen with a ringing endorsement....
The player is however undoubtedly talented and the move always had its potential issues.
