The return of Jonathan Danty to the international fold and the potential debut of Carbonel are the interesting outtakes from this French selection.

I’m particularly looking forward to the performance of this new back row. Macalou and Woki on the flanks are high energy who’ll be pressing for selection in the 1st XV and Jelonch at 8 is heading for Toulouse at the end of the season as replacement for Jerome Kaino, that’s to say, he’s very highly thought of. With the three game limit for each player in the squad for these Autumn Tests, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if some of these players are in the side to face England at Twickers.

Firstly, I’m pleased that Ford is at 10, but not so pleased that Farrell is at inside centre. Ford will have been chosen to unlock the opposition defence and to put a team member into space with his delayed pass, but when that player is likely to be Mr Undroppable, I fear that Ford’s creativity will be nullified. Everyone knows I’m not Owen Farrell’s number one fan, but here is a golden opportunity to select a centre partnership to thrive on having Ford at 10, but alas, no!

Yes I’m quite fan of Woki (part of that French U20 side that won the World Championship), will be interesting Goodey thinks it’s enough of a scratch side for Italy to pull off the win, I’m not so sure.

So am I. There'll surely be some players who will be considered for the 6N squad.
With regard to the final, there'll be some players who have already played their three matches during Autumn, and as three was the limit agreed between the FFR and the clubs, quite a few top players may not be eligible for selection against England. But as I wrote a week or so ago, rules are there to be bent so we'll see what happens.

Glad to see George back at 10, Farrell is a very good inside centre but an international 10 he is definitely not. He can and does do a great job at fly half in the league but not at test level.

I think England have the same problem they had with Dylan Hartley, they've selected a captain who isn't the best player in his position. It's for this reason I'd have Maro Itoje as captain, he's the best player in the world in his position imho.
