As an aside is there any side that we don't dislike for one reason or another?
There are some on here that would struggle to exclude Tigers from that list atm.

Watching those 2 games, makes you realise how far we have to go to reach that level. Each side had a handful of internationals who made a massive impact (eg - Hogg, Radrada, Fekitoa, Underhill)....the rest of the 23 consisted of youngsters with a massive future who were making telling contributions (eg - Maunder, Willis, Barbeary, Umaga, Randall, Redpath) and quality club men who are reliable and make the team tick (eg- Hill, Robson, Dunn, Vui).

Makes you think.

The big difference between the semi finalists and us is pace. A mixture of speed of action and thought.

Each side has its core of top level international standard players, quality youngsters and few journeymen.

We have the internationals (who don’t seem to be as influential) not so many quality youngsters and there has, over the past few years, been too many journeymen. The latter is starting to change.

Given the salary cap does that mean we have spent disproportionately on the internationals? Is the academy not developing the talent or has their development been hindered by playing journeymen?

How quickly can we change after the years of mediocrity?

I thought that one of the problems Bath had was that they did not play with sufficient pace so Exeter could get back into a good defensive set. I think Spencer did his England chances some harm today.

Only time will tell, that said, Lee Blackett has transformed Wasps performances very quickly

Repeat of 2017 final , Exeter Vs Wasps.
Exeter do look very efficient and assured and I feel Wasps will need to be at the top of their game , and play mistake free to gain a victory. That said , they certainly have momentum and the game to cause an upset - also an extra week of preparation.
Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

Wasps hardly needed transforming though. They were in a slump, not a complete rebuild.

Agreed all Wasps needed was a breath of fresh air, not a complete reset.

I have said all along for the last 10 years that Tigers have not nearly enough players with the greatest asset all teams possess, PACE.
Mol2 is 100% correct.
We have no one in the backs now with any real pace whatsoever.

There you go. Our internationals aren’t as influential. That’s one thing. Our youngsters, as promising as they look, aren’t in the same league as other clubs. I know I know they’re developing, but where’s the players who develop and then excel when they’re 21/22/23 ?

Perhaps they should have just invested in an airfreshener then and not bothered with Blackett :smt002
