Lavannini wasn't the culprit at the penalty that saw him carded. if it was anyone it should have been Cole who seemed a good way offside when he entered.

Not sure a team card can be issued - the ref has to identify the player(s) offending at that time in order to card them. The decision to card someone may well be as a consequence of repeated infringments by the team, but the player carded should be the one who was penalised during the phase the card was issued.

There is a prospect of having to play with 14 players as they currently only have one registered player available that can play Loosehead. Current rules do not allow for squad changes after 01st September.
ERC may allow the addition of a loosehead for safety reasons but this is not a given.

If they don't Saints should forfeit the game utterly stupid by ERC. I was quite impressed with the young lad, Cole made a mess of him but he grew into the game, good to see Paul Hill coming back on the scene.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

My guess is Gordon Reid will be allowed to be re-registered for the quarter-final. He was on loan with Saints earlier in the year but isn't with Glasgow currently by my understanding. Given the circumstances it would be pretty ridiculous if an exception wasn't made.

Or if it has to be a player from the Premiership perhaps sign someone like Ethan Waller on loan for the weekend. Worcester aren't playing again until the 30th and he knows Saints inside out.

There is no issues at the moment as they able to field a full front row.....if the loosehead does get injured it will mean uncontested scrums and Saints down to 14 players.

don't they have a tight head that can train to play there just in case?

The issue is that they cannot register a replacement, not that they do not have a player to play loosehead.

I meant from within their already registered players, presumably they named more than 2 tightheads on that list

I'm surprised one of the tight head props can't cover loosehead. Cole played loose head for the Lions for instance on some of the tour games.

They are going to get obliterated any which way and , methinks, poor Boyd will be chopped before Murphy.
