As sent by the Spartans to the Persians “IF”....Greenwhiteandred wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 4:15 pm Happy with the win and there were some positives but it was still a dross game - other than a lucky try for Lenny we really did not threaten their line all game and if Saints had taken their opportunities in the red zone the result would likely have been different.
There is never any points for 2nd place...
Re: Team vs Saints
Sigh....I give up and yes I do disagree. A win in those circumstances (remember, we did win) is excellent for morale in moving towards next season. Imagine if we can cut back on the penalties...Crofty wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 4:11 pmDon't get me wrong, glad of a win, but performances like that will lose more often than they win, 3 yellow cards would normally cost you the game alone. I don't think that puts us in a good position for next season, you are free to disagree.aslongaswebeatsaints wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 4:06 pmLet’s not kid ourselves, some fans are never happy....

Mistakes from pressure...Greenwhiteandred wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 4:17 pm Hmmm - more like Saints mistakes ..... hence my conclusion it was a dross game.
Pressure from a more aggressive defensive line and actual big hits.
Was Furbank knock on for our try a mistake by saints or a mistake forced by Nadolo?

Did we make them look bad too? We weren’t sparkling like the All blacks but we probably made them poor too with our play.Greenwhiteandred wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 4:17 pm Hmmm - more like Saints mistakes ..... hence my conclusion it was a dross game.

Re: Team vs Saints
It's interesting.
Both Boyd and Ackermann hailed as transforming their teams.
BUT take away Cipriani and Reinach and they look the same teams as they did before they arrived,
Now not doubting their abilities as coaches but does having that one superstar attacking player that can create something out of nothing paper over too much of the foundations.
Does when rebuilding not having a player like that give you a chance to really see what players are made of without that go to player?

Lavanini's defensive pressure was good today.
A win is a win.
Understandably a bit flat post lockdown, what an eerie East Midlands derby game that was with no crowd!

Agreed, I’m glad no one is moaning about his penalties, because other players are just as guilty as him such as Wells. Lavanini makes some crunching hits and always carries first man out from the ruck so is always running into heavy traffic.

Or had a totally senior day and thought we were the later kick off...... Plus the Remy is all gone! Off to buy supplies and watch the recording.... That was only there because I recorded the last fiasco!RagingBull wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 4:02 pm Well a win is a win.
Always sweeter against Saints.
Funny how saints went from having one of the best attacks too this.
Defence was good, discipline not
A few bright sparks individually attack wise.
Generally better game management and without Ford is a big +
funny how some posters only really post in match threads when we are losing.
