Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

JVP played reasonably well against Sale, he was just unlucky for that charge down, with himself, White and Simmons our scrum half options for the future are very bright.
Interesting about his surname too.

Hopefully one of them will start putting some real pressure on Lenny for that starting berth. Borthwick knows what he can do in an England shirt so won’t allow any drop in standards for Tigers.
I was only thinking the other day how quiet he is compared to the likes of Smith, Perinara and Weber. He needs to boss the breakdown much more not just flap his arms around.

An aggressive tighthead who holds a black belt, he'll be able to look after himself. He's one step closer to the first team now with Cortes going. If he can demonstrate a good carrying game and a stable scrum then he could well make his debut during the mid week game coming up.
The scrum half conveyor belt is a credit to the academy. It's getting very competitive and will be interesting to watch over the next couple of years as all the lads develop.

Certainly with Lady Gaga having to cover loosehead until Bower is up to speed, could well see him on the bench for the Irish game.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 10:57 am An aggressive tighthead who holds a black belt, he'll be able to look after himself. I'd have thought that Leatigaga will be the loosehead bench option throughout. Genge starting at the weekends and Bower starting the mid week game. Leatigaga offering impact from the bench after 55-60 minutes.Mark62 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 10:59 amCertainly with Lady Gaga having to cover loosehead until Bower is up to speed, could well see him on the bench for the Irish game.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 10:57 am An aggressive tighthead who holds a black belt, he'll be able to look after himself. Tighthead might be more interesting with Cole likely to play the weekends. Whether we'll go Dimen on the bench and therefore allow Heyes to bench throughout and give Dimen the first 50 Vs LI or have Dimen bench knowing Cole is normally good for the majority of the game allowing Heyes to start Vs LI I'm not sure.

Having listened to Coleys podcast with Bondi, he reckons he’ll be good for all 4 games. More realistically I think he’s likely to start the 3 weekend games with Heyes starting against Irish and Dimen on the bench.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 11:02 amI'd have thought that Leatigaga will be the loosehead bench option throughout. Big Dan is hard as nails. We need to save him from himself a little bit though. It's been notable that his form has improved now he is rotated a little more in the Tigers side with Leatigaga coming off the bench of Heyes coming in for the occasional game. We need to bring that in a little more so the big man can keep playing well into his mid 30s.Mark62 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 11:11 amHaving listened to Coleys podcast with Bondi, he reckons he’ll be good for all 4 games. Back when we required him to play pretty much 80 minutes every week the season did start to tell on him. The top clubs rotate their front rows to keep them fresh and we should be doing that. Added bonus of two young tightheads coming through who are at the right age from some game time and development.

I hope the Polar Bear has as much influence off the pitch as on it, there are 3 younger THs that will surely benefit from his experience, it would be nice if they went on "Work experience" on a local farm now & again as well.
Dan had to shoulder the midweek load on the last lions tour as well, which he just got on with of course.

To win is not as important as playing with style!
Re: Articles: Jack van Poortvliet & Osman Dimen
On the Lions tour, Cole played in the midweek loss against the Blues before coming off the bench in the win against the Crusaders on the Saturday, then played in the midweek loss against the Highlanders (also on the bench). So he has done it in the past but we have the likes of Leatigaga and Heyes to rotate with so it shouldn't be the case that he needs to play that regularly.

Don’t think he’s saying he needs to, just that he feels he has it in if required.JP14 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 3:07 pm On the Lions tour, Cole played in the midweek loss against the Blues before coming off the bench in the win against the Crusaders on the Saturday, then played in the midweek loss against the Highlanders (also on the bench). Oh yes absolutely, just backing up another poster's point that he could do it if needs be.
