Re: Team for Exeter
I think it’s almost too difficult to predict, particularly given how the squad will have to be manipulated for the midweek games.
It’ll be a strong side first up though; the right tone needs setting.
I’d hope to see something like:
1. Genge
2. Youngs
3. Cole
4. Green
5. Lavanini
6. Liebenburg
7. Refell
8. Taufua (although wouldn’t be surprised by a 6-7-8 of Wells, Taufua, Liebenburg)
9. Youngs
10. Ford
11. Nadolo
12. Scott
13. Taute
14. Olowofela
15. Worth
Porter or Potter could be wildcards, but it’d be quite a game to introduce them to elite rugby. Henry probably on the bench; maybe even a 6:2 split on the bench if he’s versatile enough.

Re: Team for Exeter
Depending on fitness of course but I’d love to see us go down to Sandy Park with a top team and see what they can do. Something like this could give a strong performance
Worth - Olowofela - Nadolo
Taute - Scott
Ford - Youngs
Taufua - Reffell - Liebenberg
Enever - Lavanini
Cole - Youngs - Genge
Leatigaga - Kerr - Heyes
Wells/Green - Coghlan/Wallace
White - Henry - Potter
Worth - Olowofela - Nadolo
Taute - Scott
Ford - Youngs
Taufua - Reffell - Liebenberg
Enever - Lavanini
Cole - Youngs - Genge
Leatigaga - Kerr - Heyes
Wells/Green - Coghlan/Wallace
White - Henry - Potter
Re: Team for Exeter
Not far away imo. Personally I’d start with Wallace over Reffell and Henry over Worth.RunTigerRun wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 6:04 pm Depending on fitness of course but I’d love to see us go down to Sandy Park with a top team and see what they can do. Re: Team for Exeter
I would be gobsmacked if he doesn't go with his strongest available starting 15 or even 23
Hehehehehehehehe

15. Worth
14. Potter
13. Taute
12. Scott
11. Nadolo
10. Ford
9. White

2. Youngs

4. Lavannini
5. Enever
6.Taufua
7. Reffell
8. Liebenberg
Nearly full strength would just like to one or two readied for the midweek games, so think I'd aim to split Ford and Youngs up so there is an experienced half back in each team.
If both Youngs and Ford start, expect one or both benched quickly...

Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Re: Team for Exeter
I think they said next season or the tail end of this one. Won't be there for the Chiefs game I wouldn't have thought.
Am I right in thinking we have another game before the mid week game? I'd have thought we'll go full gas against Chiefs. We'll have to mix the team up for the mid week game as that one is on paper very winnable.
Re: Team for Exeter
Yes week off after Exeter then Bath, Irish , and Gloucester in 8 days.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 8:59 pmI think they said next season or the tail end of this one. Won't be there for the Chiefs game I wouldn't have thought.

Re: Team for Exeter
No one will get replaced inside 50 min unless injured, and I think Ford and Youngs will be split for the 2 home games.TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Fri Aug 07, 2020 8:02 pm 15. Worth

IMO fans need to temper their expectations of Reffell, he is obviously going to get some game time but he isn’t yet as good as people are making him out to be.

I. Genge, Youngs, Cole
Lavanini, Enever
Liebenburg, Taufua, Reffell
Youngs, Ford
Scott, Taute
Nadolo, Murimurivalu, Owolfela
Kerr, Leatigaga, Heyes, Wells, Wallace, White, Henry, Worth.
Owolfela brings some pace to the backline and he does run good support lines so alongside the Flying Fijians he should do well. Wells provides more options off the bench so gets the nod over Green. I rate Reffell's work rate in defence so combining him and Taufua in the backrow Vs the Chiefs big ball carriers seems logical with Wallace on the bench he knows he can empty the tank in the first 50 minutes with Wells able to play 6 in case of another backrow injury. Kerr might get pipped for his bench spot but we'll have to see.
Murimurivalu should be available as the clubs said when he signed "The 31-year-old will link up with his new team-mates at Tigers in the coming weeks ahead of the scheduled resumption of the 2019/20 campaign and into the 2020/ 21 Gallagher Premiership and European seasons." Unless I've missed something since?

Re: Team for Exeter
It's a bit odd this game as you would normally want to go full tilt for the first game of a new era, but it isn't really that, for Tigers it's almost a long set of preseason games.
Personally I would target the home games, but would like to see some of the fringe/younger players get game time without being overly exposed, the aim should be, to be all guns blazing by the Euro game, comfortable in the new game plan, pretty good idea of our best starting XV.
Exeter away isn't really the place for putting the Cubs out, (Steward excepted) but I wouldn't be averse to some mix & match, no need for anyone not 100% fit.

To win is not as important as playing with style!

Re: Team for Exeter
As we cannot get relegated I would use the end of season games to mix the combinations, and give players a chance to show what they can do., in preparation for next season.
