Club going to offer to pay for the wedding? (I'm joking before anyone takes this seriously it being the running joke when Ayerza was here and had a Spanish girlfriend)

Well that’s half the battle.

Looks like there may be delays to Montoya's announcement. Though I have no issues with that, I'll just be glad when it's confirmed we're getting a top quality international.

Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Immaterial now , and not exactly going to lose sleep over it ,but apparently Nick Abendanon turned down both ourselves and London Irish to remain in France:

Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

Understandable. Vannes offered a 2 year deal and we offered a 1 year deal. For a player that had in his own words been forced into retirement by Covid (just not for very long) the idea of financial security would have been too good to turn down.kk20gb30 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 7:37 am Immaterial now , and not exactly going to lose sleep over it ,but apparently Nick Abendanon turned down both ourselves and London Irish to remain in France:

I think we may have done better in our signings for the long term. Interesting that he states one reason for not returning to Bath was that Tom Homer was playing well for them, Homer has been released and returned to London Irish the other club besides ourselves supposed to be interested in Abendanon.

Not sure we needed "Trip" Abendanon. We got rid of Varndell because he couldn't tackle and he's defensively worse and offesnsively poorer.kk20gb30 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 7:37 am Immaterial now , and not exactly going to lose sleep over it ,but apparently Nick Abendanon turned down both ourselves and London Irish to remain in France:

Seems to me that Abendanons motives were to do with money and lifestyle for him and his family. No problem with that, but probably not got the hunger and desire to work hard and improve Tigers have been talking about so much recently. Club first.

Plenty of people put their career first, I'm not one of them.

His game developed quite a bit at Clermont. Those who only saw him play in the Prem might not have seen how good he was in Yellow. He'd have been a good signing but only for a year. I think it worked out best all round with him getting a two year deal and us getting Murimurivalu who will suit us very well.Robespierre wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 11:03 amHmm, he was declared best European player of the year in 2015 which ain’t so long ago.mol2 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 8:50 amNot sure we needed "Trip" Abendanon. I would have been delighted to get Bendy Bus, on a years contract, but feel Murimurivalu is an upgrade
