Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE IV: A New Hope
My last post on this in this thread (though maybe it's worth a separate thread) as I'm hoping this gets back to our signings... (odds on Montoya and others tommorow)
In cricket they were suggesting that Kolpak players would NOT in their regulations count as overseas players(though legally speaking the would need visas etc) so for that contract they don't count as overseas. If rugby follows suit then it will be intresting to see how long the contracts we've signed some of the new players are till as long term contracts could be golddust, however if rugby goes a different route and Kolpaks start being overseas many clubs will be trying to offload them as soon as they can so tgey won't want Kolpak.

Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

The 'Rugby Paper' (26/72020) suggest more than a passing interest from The Dragons toward Greg Bateman (Alex Bywater).
Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

Wouldn't surprise me. The WRU have made a concerted effort to get Welsh qualified players into the Regions squads. Bateman qualifies and is at an age where he should have three or four years left in the tank (maybe longer as a back up).
Anyone else see the Potter interview on the website, he has said he can play 12 and 13 he's just a not played there in the last year so would need a little practice. Porter being talked up as quite a big lad and able to play 13. We might see them getting some exposure in the midfield and backing up the senior options there rather than us re-entering the transfer market.

I saw the Potter interview too. I like the sound of many of the new signings including Potter and Porter - it sounds like they have the 'raw minerals' to do very well. It also sounds like they are having a lot of tough fitness and coaching sessions which bodes well and should stand them in good stead for the future. I hope they all progress through to the starting 23 at some point as it is important that this potential is realised and translated into top quality performances on the pitch.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 9:14 amWouldn't surprise me. I am becoming more and more confident in what we are doing and am even seriously thinking about putting a bet on that we finish in the top 4. I have looked but can't find a bookie that is offering odds yet but anything over 10 - 1 would be great.
Hehehehehehehehe

Which season are you referring too? I definitely think we could make top 6 this season.

Still waiting for a prop and another centre based on what RB posted last week, plus maybe a project or two.

To win is not as important as playing with style!
