Being reported that Manu is willing to go to another Premiership club on less money :censored:! That for me is rubbing salt in after all Tigers have done for him over the last 10 years!
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2
If that is indeed the case, it is what I have thought maybe the case with Taufua. He is being advised, guided by an agent who is only concerned with £ signs. As others have said he will be the biggest loss of the lot and the image of him running over the top of Stuart Hogg, with Austin’s comment, Hogg got across but then wished he hadn’t, will live long in the memoryRagingBull wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 12:36 pm https://twitter.com/foychris/status/127 ... 42306?s=21
Wonder who requested the extension?
Naughty agent?

English partner, young child. Maybe she is saying she doesn’t want to live abroad for 2 or 3 years.
TBH if that is the case no matter how good he is/was it is a disgrace given the time and backing Tigers have given over the years.
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2
To be fair to Manu it might be less money than what the club were paying him pre-reduction, but more money than what Tigers can currently afford him.

Can't see that TBH, if you take into consideration the fact they can claw back half of the reduction in the future they only stand to end up taking a cut of 12.5%!

Manu Tuilagi is coming across as a bit of a diva, Tigers have stood by him during his injury, legal and immigration status problems, this was no act of charity, but a calculation that he was worth the trouble and cost but his benefit to the team over the past few seasons has been very limited.
Now when revenues have collapsed and most of his teammates have accepted that the same money is not available now and have taken the cut, Manu thinks he can play elsewhere and sue tigers for the difference, this shows a selfishness that will lose him a lot of support, not just Tigers fans but all Rugby fans who still value a bit of integrity.

Manu has been badly advised and this has Freddie’s prints all over itBengalTiger wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 1:19 pm Manu Tuilagi is coming across as a bit of a diva, Tigers have stood by him during his injury, legal and immigration status problems, this was no act of charity, but a calculation that he was worth the trouble and cost but his benefit to the team over the past few seasons has been very limited.

If Manu goes to another English club it would be a disgrace! Let's just hope its paper talk

Will be interesting to see just how good the advice given to the players is. Yes, there is an argument any of them could sign for a Premiership club on a lower wage and then look to claim the balance from the Tigers in an action for breach of contract. There may be a reasonable chance of success. The issue is that, in order to sign that contract, they have to be released from the Tigers contract and there is no obligation on the Tigers to do so. Yes, we want the wages off the books but I am assuming that is going to be on the understanding of a clean break and not with us paying a considerable sum for the rest of the year. You are then in the realms of court action and that could keep a player off the pitch for much of the year. Yes they may win in the end and secure a release form their contract but, in the meantime, with no competitive rugby under their belts their attraction to another club, their international revenue etc dwindles. The courts will also look at whether the the new contract was a reasonable attempt to mitigate loss or an attempt to have their cake and eat it. I suspect that signing for a nominal wage and expecting Tigers to pick up the rest of the bill would not go down well with a court.
Not saying that the Tigers will not end up paying something but I also suspect that they will not be willing to pick up large parts of the tab for the players to be with direct competitors and I suspect that they have been told to look for other clubs based on us paying very little or nothing going forward.
This could get nasty.

The mail article comes across more like they were talking to a sports lawyer about the situation rather than something from Manu’s camp.

Would suggest the posts from TV's facepest page would allow for dismissal.
One of the interesting points from last night that it was 25% across the club outside the low earners.

Just caught this,be interesting to see who breaks the pact. Any takers?
"In principle, the leading English clubs are thought to have made a pact not to poach each other's players in the event of universal pay cuts creating the threat of a mass exodus. This was a stance to try to force players to accept lower wages and stop them claiming the shortfall later."

From the reports, TV and Bateman are definitely going. However, all 6 players have been stood down, allowing them to negotiate deals with other clubs but from what I understand the Tigers deal is still on the table for some of them.....

or which player decides to sue them under competition laws, all clubs agreeing not to do something which stifles competition is highly suspect, no matter how well meaning.Scott1 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 1:44 pm Just caught this,be interesting to see who breaks the pact. Any takers?

Also I wouldn't rule out Manu eventually re-signing, so long as he is under contact the door should be open, same for the other players
