Looks like I was wrongMark62 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 11:13 amSo he has accepted reduced terms on his current contract but hasn’t extended its length ?Leicestertinytiger wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 11:10 am Ford hasn’t signed an extension. Although he has reiterated that when playing for England he only wants to be playing for Tigers. Still also has another 2 years left on his current contract.
All well and good these announcements but what about the juicer news and the futures of Taufua and Manu?

I feel I should be pleased with these announcements but I was expecting/hoping for something else. I was hoping to dip into the tin and see some custard creams, but there were only Rich tea in there.

The key renewals for me are the non-internationals. Whilst you need those guys to drive the standards etc, it's those that are left behind during the international periods that will decide where we finish in the league.

If you look at the gram over the past few days they’ve only announced 13 in individual posts
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2
As others have mentioned, everything over the last few days has been very good, very welcome news after recent turmoil. That said, it does seem a bit of over hype from the PR department for news that was already very much in the public domain. Would have been happy to see all of that wound up in 1 or 2 press releases.
Still, good news all round on the re-signings but no news on the players we were perhaps hoping to hear more about.

No it’s all good news as far as I am concerned. Taufua is needed, personally thing manu is not.
Too expensive, doesn’t play enough, brings too much drama and upheaval at the club for my liking. A steady ship is more effective than a rocking one...

Nothing on Lavanini which is interesting. It could of course be that both parties were happy with the original deal.

Not saying it is boring as such, guess I just got carried away and 2 days of build up with information being teased and drip fed led me to believe that there would be something new and unexpected at the end.RagingBull wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 12:09 pm Do find it funny.

Don't get me wrong, all of these signings are some of the best news that we could have had at the moment but the hype just had me hoping for a big surprise at the end, especially with the silence from all parties regarding JT.

C.G. must have re-signed but I missed seeing it.
As far as Manu goes, I hope he leaves. He could be a disruptive element in the future, which could spread discontent among players. Just my opinion though.

The lack of chatter on Taufua is a positive from a PR point of view which ever way discussions go.
I presume some players took the pay cut as a stand alone, others said they would with a longer contract meaning more security.
I wonder if YBY is going to be doing some of what Mele was doing, there is a sizeable age gap between him & the other 9's, presumably Ford Snr can help out here with his RL position in mind.

To win is not as important as playing with style!
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2
If that is the end of the re-signings. then I expect next season to be Tom's last hence no need to extend his contract but of course, I may be wrong
An interesting question for me is how many of the stood down players would have been offered an extension and are they beginning to regret what they turned down. Of course, we will never know but I can't help wondering.
Another issue that hasn't been resolved is Lavi and JT. I did expect some info but maybe that is for another day.
