Slightly au contraire, I think he is one example of a potential top line player who withered for the want of good top line coaching; Owen Williams likewise. Both looking good at Tigers but offloaded in poor management decisions and buried at Glaws.

Doesn't he still hold the record for most points in a single game? Think it was against Glaws as well when he played 13 but did the kicking and scored a couple of tries.
Glaws fans seem to like him but he never kicked on like we and England hoped he would.

12T had enough about him to win 22 England caps and be selected for The British Lions.chipnchase wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 10:37 pmWell he was on a number of occasions so I think that’s the end of that argument

Agree with BFG about Parling and Salvi but my understanding was that Parling, who I regard as a really big loss, having been away and injured several times with England was asked if he would retire from international call up after the 2015 World Cup, he declined so he went, as it happened he was no longer selected for England. Salvi was different he was heading for France and big money, he changed his mind after the French offer did not materialise. Not sure what our club could have done but both were big losses. Twelvetrees was behind Anthony Allen and Manu but had we known they were to be injured I am sure we would have tried harder to keep him, he would have been better for us than many we brought in to replace him.

Fixed it for you all
It's nice to see that even after all these years a 36 post can still elicit so much emotion.
Good player, but nothing special. Long since forgotten by England despite being just 31, shows how many other players have overtaken him. If England caps or Premiership points scoring records are accurate measures of quality, Dylan Hartley is better than Martin Johnson and Stephen Myler is better than Jonny Wilkinson.

Just a feeling ,perhaps just guessing but I do feel that the The Club - before the week is out - will pull a rabbit out of the hat in terms of re-signings and/or signings....
Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2
Have to agree with you.
Prior to the contracts situation, we were apparently looking for another back row player to join Brink in replacing Thompson and Kalamafoni. Plus also another starter level winger having lost both May and Holmes, taking into account Nadolo was signed prior to announcing either was leaving/had left. Potter is more likely to be Thompstone’s replacement.
Add to that, we’ve just lost our backup LH, starter fullback, and two inside centres, with our starting 7 and 13 potentially also off.
I’m expecting further confirmation of re-signings / extensions today, but also hopefully players to fill out the original voids in the squad, at 8 and 11/14.
The re-signings could also include JT, and maybe even MT, I’m half expecting both in truth.
I expected these to be announced last week, because as of 1st July all new contracts were in force weren’t they? Unless of course it’s someone with a current deal elsewhere, Aotearoa maybe, or the aussie championship, maybe waiting for them to finish towards the end of summer.
Just shirts 1, 12 and 15 to address then, and potentially 7 & 13 if I’m wrong on JT and MT, but since this only really happened last week, I don’t expect this to be dealt with this week, perhaps the club will let the dust settle first.
I understand there is believed to be some gentleman’s agreement in place not to poach any stood down players, but there’ll come a point where they are all in a pot to be effectively traded surely, as a number of clubs will have gaps to fill I expect, and there will be a not insignificant pool of players in limbo.

One of Murphy's, if I recall correctly, and it works better with an Irish accent.
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2
Really looking forward to today but not expecting our squad size to be as big as before because of the money situation - just hoping that JT is the big re-signing and really not worried about the rest. If we have signed someone like bendy on a very cheap 1-year deal - OK as long as it really is cheap.
Hehehehehehehehe

So two more extensions today it seems. Lavanini and Ford?
