Mixed feelings on Abendanon.I wouldn't be averse to us bringing him in for a year. Great runner and a good character by all accounts. However, can't kick for toffee, Telusa wasn't great with the boot either and always felt that was his weakness. The modern game is increasingly about the kick chase so to have a full back with a decent boot would be preferable.

We need a back 3 player.
11. Nadolo, Williams (Loan), Browning
14. Potter, Olowofela, Aspland-Robinson
15. Abendanon, Steward, Worth
Would seem about right for coverage on the whole.

Worth's got a decent boot, Nadolo is a good kicker and Steward has a cannon. We've got options but if Nadolo is out injured then there's not a lot of experience.

Ca va! I've nothing to add to the rumours that are being spread about.
The take-over of Beziers is far from a done deal with of course no guarantees that money will buy promotion to the Top14!

If I hear of any rumbles down here, I'll post 'em!!

Not sure Abendanon would be on my list either, perhaps Alivereti Veitokani (just released from LI) would be a better bet. Very balanced and elusive runner, with a better kicking game.
Given I don’t expect any of the stood down players to stay, I’d say we still need to replace the follow players

Bateman - Mulipola for a year would be fine, allow Dimen, Whitcombe and Rowntree to develop.
Kalamafoni, Taufua & Thompson - Brink covers one space, still I’d be looking at an explosive/combative instant matchday level 7/8, plus either a specialist 8 or else another lock with Wells playing six to allow Liebenberg to be 8 cover. Potentially, we could park that latter role based on how close Henderson, Chessum, Martin, Manz are, and Lavin, Gough and Smith.
Tuilagi, Reid & Eastmond - Two out and out centres, maybe one more direct hard carrying/hard hitting 12, and one more balanced runner at 13, but I actually probably wouldn’t bring anyone else in after these two, as between Hardwick, Worth and Kelly, we have an array of different skillsets that could stand in without the need for a third addition, save the salary.
Holmes & May - Nadolo replaces one, we still need another starter level winger. Whilst I’m of the mind that the likes of Williams and Potter could be smart additions, it seems a steep drop off if Nadolo is not available for any amount of time. There was talk of you going with one power winger and one more elusive, well Nadolo is our only power option. Could Savea be an option?
Veianu - Veitokani would be a better bet than Abendanon for me, I’m leaning toward the power midfield, and second playmaker fullback rather than Abendanon/Veianu running type.

I read that Veitokani is to return to Fiji. I assume that means 7s but not sure.

Veitokani couldn't cut it as a 15 for Irish.
Maybe for others he might step up.

But we have about 5 project players in the back 3 not sure another would be great.
Meanwhile Abendanon has been starting 15 in the top 14 and is EQP.

Bendy was close to world class at his peak too and would definitely have been playing for England if he was based over here,he was electric at the peak of his powers. Hes not at that level now but still comfortably GP quality. My opinion of course. I hope it comes off!

...and a 'kicking game' is a likely default strategy for Borthwick, I suspect.

Please do not forget Matt Scott in the centres. :smt023

Rumoured to be looking at Jeronimo de la Fuente for the 13 shirt.

Abendanon would also be a very good and experienced stop gap at 15. Has improved immeasurably as an all round player from the back. Better kicking and defensive game than Veainu. Reminds me a bit of Tait in his late years.

De La Fuente is normally a 12 I think, Midi Olympic is saying Manu is to stay at Tigers after agreeing terms on a pay cut

de la Fuente and Scott in the centres would be a really nice balance imo

de la Fuente has also captained the Jaguares so would be a good leadership option to the team - would be a very good addition.

Has De La Fuente rumour purely happened because he followed tigers on instagram?

Yep. Pretty sure I read somewhere else a very vague statement about other Jags players following Montoya to Tigers. Given that no players were specifically named and Montoya isn't joining for 18 months it's basically just saying that it's possible another Argentinian player might join Tigers in the next couple of years.

All that said de la Fuente is a very good player.
