Re: Ackerman leaving Gloucester?
Already mentioned on the non Tigers thread.
People seem to be giving it as much credence as the Itoje to Tigers rumour, but I for one wouldn’t be surprised.
There were definitely issues at Gloucester before the season stopped, possibly the influx of foreign players, maybe to do with Cipriani role, but I can see him going and taking some of the Boks with him

Re: Ackerman leaving Gloucester?
People forget Gloucester had also only won 4 games in the season. Now given the rumours of squad unrest and Ackerman leaving, I’m sure May is happy he’s joining them.
I know we had only won 4 games too, but given our recent coaching additions and hopefully coming recruitment, at least we’re a club who should now be on an upwards trajectory.

Cockerill been mentioned as a possible replacement. That will be great appointment if Ackermann does leave and Cockerill does join them.
Re: Ackerman leaving Gloucester?
I don’t think Cipriani is happy at Gloucester at the moment.
Formerly of Burbaaage (not Inkleh), now up north at uni

Would certainly not dismiss this rumor out of hand.Gloucester were undoubtedly struggling and under performing when the season was prematurely interrupted.
Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

Akerman - Cips and May
I believe he is going - however he turned Cherry Whites around the previous season and they looked a solid top 4.
Cips - a pre madonna. He does one or two brilliant things in a game then fluffs his lines. He is not happy at the moment but a club is not one player. Can see him going as well France any one?
May - out of frying pan. With the upwards trajectory of Tigers coaching set up would he regret a move. Or was it purely finances or he missed Gloucs?
If Cockers is linked with Gloucs- What squad will he inherit if players walk with Akers. A rebuild and with what finances?

There was a pre Madonna? I thought she’d be around forever.
Gloucester looked strong last season and poor this, amazing how quickly these things can change. Let’s hope we can flip our fortunes just as quickly.

Re: Ackerman leaving Gloucester?
Cockers turned down the job at Toulon because he'd agreed to join Edinburgh and thought it was the best place for his family to be together. He's done interviews saying the family are happy and settled in Scotland. He might be hesitant to move the family again, especially with things going so well at Edinburgh.TigerBoy1880 wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 1:03 pm Cockerill been mentioned as a possible replacement. Quite...particularly when most of the rumours are more Edward Lear than Will Shakespeare’s one!strawclearer wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 12:22 pmCan't beat a bit of Lear on a rugby forum!voice of the crumbie wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 8:08 am All these rumours. Some may come true some won't.

Yesterday, at Kibworth Fayre
I met a lock who wasn't fair.
He wasn't there again today,
I wish that lock would go away!
(...although that was based on Hughes Mearns rather than Edward Lear!)

Re: Ackerman leaving Gloucester?
Luckily, pre Madonna there was Debbie Harry and Chrissie Hynde. On a serious note, if, as rumoured Cipriani arrived with a promise that he had full control over of the backline playbook, maybe JA saw it wasn’t working, mentioned it and Humphreys it fell on deaf ears.
