Aled Walters arrival - Top signing!
Well, if he can get some of our our stars 100% fitter, and faster, then he will be well worth the money !!

A tweet from Jesse Kriel:

Re: Aled Walters arrival - Top signing!
Great appointment. This plus the recruitment of Rob Taylor plus other additions / changes to the coaching team give me hope that Tigers are finally moving in the right direction. Let's get behind them !!
Tigers for the premiership and European Cup. Get behind the team and make some noise!!
Re: Aled Walters arrival - Top signing!
Jesse Kriel isn’t the only Bok to lament Walters’ loss, we really have got ourselves a top signing.

Re: Aled Walters arrival - Top signing!
Quite a shake up going on.
10 years or so back we were the fittest side in the league and we would generally dominate the last 20 minutes against most sides. Some of that was purely down to fitness but some may well be down to players and structures expending energy because of poor game structure. What we have seen in recent years is that the England quad players when they return (uninjured) look fitter and more rapidly up for the next tackle or phase than the rest of the players. Of course that may also reflect that they are internationals because they are the fitter, faster and stronger ones, but some of it has to be down to how Tigers prepare too.
I wonder if the enormously long warm up Tigers seem to have may shorten. I have a theory that one of the reasons we have faded at times is that we seem to do significantly longer warm ups than most if not all the opposition and our warm ups are physically intense rather than focussing on getting loose and getting a feel for the conditions.
I'm a lot more optimistic, let's hope the new coaches have enough quality players to work with.

A shrewd and inspired signing, players will buy into Walters world class methods or they'll get found out quickly! Fitness/S&C coaches are the unsung heroes of a teams success.

My oh my.....
Cant believe we have signed a coaching squad that may work for us.
Borthwick along with Ford Snr as defensive coach and Boris scrum coach.
Have all my Christmases come at once????
I now believe the Board is serious about getting us back to where we belong.
Just hope the players buy into this, because I for one am thrilled.

This video by Squidge Rugby is a really well constructed analysis on how the Boks won the World Cup, he also focuses on the Bomb squad strategy and Aled Walters' input into it making front rowers train for 55 minutes rather than the full 80 in order to preserve power.
It'll be interesting to see whether a similar approach could be applied to Tigers next season...

Good interview

Wonder if their is a S&C coach with seemingly as much influence as Aled at the premiership level?
Don't think anything wrong in it, IMO likely part of the future of club rugby, International setups know the importance of it.

Aled Walters - the best signing we’ve made in years (and that includes players)
Re: Aled Walters arrival - Top signing!
What about rehab ? Conditioning & Fitness are one thing but does Aled also oversee Rehab ?
