Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

Lions were also all vaccinated, and it’s hoped that they will be fully inoculated by the Jersey training camp. A smart decision in my opinion.

Update on Boks squad on the BBC:
“South Africa will name a 45-strong squad for the series on 5 June”.
Erasmus has also, unsurprisingly, name-checked our own Jasper Wiese.

Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021
All this time since the squad and I still cannot believe they picked Harris. I was once told your most threatening player should, ideally, be at 13, well Harris carries almost no threat.
Players better who qualify
Joseph
Ringrose
Davies
Slade
Piers O Connor
Marchant
Lawrence
Given the Lions need to world class below are the other players in the Prem who are better;
Radrandra- to be fair the best in the world
Rona
Moroni
If Harris was English he would not even have an international cap.
Sorry rant over- still baffled.

100% agree, and the same with Ali Price.Tigers86asw wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 10:19 pm All this time since the squad and I still cannot believe they picked Harris. I was once told your most threatening player should, ideally, be at 13, well Harris carries almost no threat.

I find it baffling people continuously fail to recognise that Harris is one of the best defensive centres in the Northern Hemisphere.
He injured his hand last night against Irish, people think Slade will be the replacement if needed but I reckon it could actually be Manu.

I'm guessing trying not to get onto a divisive topic too much. I suspect that being vaccinated may be part of the visa requirements of this tour, meaning that Slade may likely be ineligible.JP14 wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 9:23 am I find it baffling people continuously fail to recognise that Harris is one of the best defensive centres in the Northern Hemisphere.

Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

My point is not that he isn’t a good defensive player it is that when you are trying to build a world class side in 8 weeks I would not be picking a 13 for their defence when they offer so little in attack.JP14 wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 9:23 am I find it baffling people continuously fail to recognise that Harris is one of the best defensive centres in the Northern Hemisphere.

A 12, possibly, but not a 13. At international level I think it is a limited mindset.

Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021
I have to agree with that.
Being the best defensive 13 IMO means little at International level.

Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021
Not when it was a big part of Scotland winning away in France and stopping les Bleus from stealing the title. We have seen at Tigers how well a great defender at 13 in Moroni works, yes Moroni's attack is just as good, but it's not like Harris can't score tries.RagingBull wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 11:42 am I have to agree with that.

Well Slade was quick to "clarify" his comments...TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 9:50 amI'm guessing trying not to get onto a divisive topic too much. But the thing is balance.JP14 wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 11:57 amNot when it was a big part of Scotland winning away in France and stopping les Bleus from stealing the title. Really who’s the attacking 12 that is in the squad that would balance him out?
Henshaw but even he is considered more the solid guy to Ringrose attacking threat.
Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021
The Lions starting 13 should not be selected mainly because of his defensive attributes. Injuries to North, Davies and Manu have really left a hole. Whilst I’d never wish injury on anyone, maybe one of the latter two will earn a call up. Otherwise the best attacking option might be Daly.RagingBull wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 12:08 pmBut the thing is balance.JP14 wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 11:57 amNot when it was a big part of Scotland winning away in France and stopping les Bleus from stealing the title. Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021
Centre depth is weak admittedly. But I still believe Harris deserves his call up.
