Speculation only, 'The Ruck' names five players who are not on The Lions stand by list of possible tour replacements:

According to a poster on Wales Online Curry is the most overrated player on the planet. Oh how I laughed!

I think he’s a very good player. A lot of people are judging our players on one disastrous 6N,looking at his whole body of work he’s a top talent. Does he start for the Lions? That’s a tough one because I think Tipuric is different gravy but I’d prefer Curry over Watson, his overall all round game is slightly better but all 3 are very good players. The Lions are certainly blessed there. We could’ve even gone double trouble 7s but it doesn’t work without an in form Billy V. I’d guess it will be Beirne,Faletau and A N Other.

I think he’s very good as well but he’s often talked up like he’s Michael Jones or Richie McCaw.
I believe in picking players in their positions and I see Beirne as primarily a second row. My Lions back row would be 6 Curry 7 Tipuric 8 Faletau.

Beirne will be at 6 if Gats ops for 3 lineout options.

Tipuric has long been a very good line out option

Willie John McBride is apparently very unhappy about the tour going ahead this year due to the fact that no fans can travel and is also objecting to the home fixture against Japan, claiming it's all about money.

He’s right that it’s all about the money but then all of pro sport is about the money...

Everything is about money, that’s the world we live in. Furthermore, personally I think it’s better scheduling wise for the Tour to proceed as postponing would worsen the backlog of fixtures. The unions and South Africa need the money as well.
