I don't dispute that the Lions will make more money, the question is who for, it certainly is not for the clubs but it will be the clubs out of pocket if they miss out on important trophies due to the absence of three or four players or if those players pick up long term injuries and need replacing in a club squad whilst still being paid by the club.

Might be going mad, but did Ollie Smith have England caps before the 2005 tour?
Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021
BOD was full of praise for him on that tour, another whose career was blighted by injuryCardiff Tig wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 8:41 pm Might be going mad, but did Ollie Smith have England caps before the 2005 tour?
Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021
If I remember correctly, all his England caps came before his Lions tour.
Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021
What about Jason Robinson, did he get capped before the Lions tour? I'm sure it was close either way

Greenwood was the last one, in 1997. Before that you've got to go back to 1977 and then it's before 1940.
There is a chance it could happen in 2021, with the strength in depth in some positions, such as back row or lock in England. Incredibly unlikely though, with 6N just a few months earlier, it would need a very unusual set of circumstances to come together.
If Reffell has put in enough excellent performances by the end of the season to convince Gatland, it's unlikely he wouldn't have already been given a run out by Wales.

Guscott was uncapped when he was a Lion in '97
God created rugby so footballers have heros too
Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021
Nope. Won one cap for England and was called up partway through the Lions tour about a week later.
Re: Who’s your pick for Lions 2021
I think you mean '89 and no he had one or two caps, but only just prior.

There's a wikipedia page entirely dedicated to this, so we can all stop taking wild stabs in the dark.
Last one was Greenwood, before that it was the 70's. Most of the rest were about 100 years ago.
