Good shout on Joe! I remember him outplaying "The Warrior" in the 6N game leading up to the 2017 tour when he was incredibly left out. I remember the furore at the time, definitely one of the worse none picks of recent times.
You're quite right, it was a very controversial call (although sadly not entirely unforeseen!). I have a feeling Wales recent uplift in form will go against Joe's chances again.
I'm not totally against AWJ. He's pretty canny at managing himself to go the distance by never really stretching himself across the full extents of the pitch and staying broadly within that middle channel between the 15m lines. It does allow him to get through a mountain of tackles but is that enough? I appreciate he offers a lot to the changing room/touring environment but certainly there are better on-field performers that will do the hard yards equally well but also come up with a turnover or offload here or there.

Kruis may be another not being talked about who has a chance of going. Just look at the England pack missing him and Lauchbury and it looks a different animal
A good point! Has Kruis been operating at a decent enough standard though and be fit enough? On the flip side to that he might be fresher and raring to go!

IMO the Japanese top league is probably a higher standard than the Championship here, so if players in the Championship are being talked about then so can Kruis
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Without going off on too much of a tangent I have a vague recollection that Joe Launchbury becomes a free agent come the end of this season...
Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....
Can't believe he missed out King Leonidas from the Isle of Naboombu! A feisty character and would need to keep his temper in check, but a charmer with the referee!

Can someone post the XV for me please? Thanks!
15 Aslan -Captain
14 /11 Cowardly Lion (Wizard of Oz) / Brian the Lion (Amiga)
13 Leo the Lion (Leinster mascot)
12 Parsley the Lion (The Herbs)
10 Lionel Beauxis
9 Simba (Lion King)
1 King John (Disney's Robin Hood)
2 Braveheart lion (Care Bears)
3 Leo (MGM Lion)
4/5 JK Simmons (zootopolis)
6 Cecil the lion
7 Alex (Madagascar)
8 Mufasa (Lion King)
I'd be very surprised if this wasn't close to the starting XV, not following any recent form, just what I think Gatland will go with, to have the best chance to beat the Springboks:
