Favourite Players
Let’s eulogise about our favourite Tigers players ...... and why ..... for me it Alex Tuilagi although Tom Croft is a close second. Loved nothing more than when Alex was set free on the wing with 2-3 players to beat and he dipped his left shoulder and busted through them ... a thing of brutal beauty.

Re: Favourite Players
Dusty Hare...growing up came to realise it was almost certainly points in the bag from wherever.
Close second , Ian Smith - lived just up the road and always had time for a chat and a spot of impromotu practice in the middle of the street.

Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

Re: Favourite Players
Neil Back. Incredible player who was the trail blazer for a lot of what 7s do at the breakdown now. One of the first English 7s to be that link between forwards and backs. Told he was too small. They couldn’t ignore him.
Re: Favourite Players
Despite his utter failure as a coach, Murphy is one of my favourites, along with Ayerza, Hamilton, White, Alesana, Ben Youngs, Croft and Allen, loved that era. All time favourite has to be Johnno

Great player, and as he once said “if you’re good enough, you’re tall enough”westwinds31 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2020 7:49 am Neil Back. Re: Favourite Players
So many to choose from and not one real favourite player more bits of each one.
Dusty Hare for goal kicking and that feeling of solidity at the back
Barry Evans for sheer pace
Clive Woodward one of the most graceful players I’ve ever seen
Paul Dodge Mr Reliable with a siege gun of a left foot, who’ll forget that penalty at Murreyfield
Les Cusworth an imp of a man who’s genius made you forgive his inability to tackle.
Marcus Ayerza the best of the best imo at scrum time and round the park
Peter Wheeler an innovator and an animal on the pitch
Martin Johnson great player, great captain an inspiration to all
Dean Richards the last of the great Corinthians, to look at him he shouldn’t have been the player he was, but ferociously strong and could read a game like no other.
Neil Back that image of him parallel to the ground flying through the air while playing for England A v the Italians at Welford road still lives with me. Lol Dayglo was once asked who the best back rower he had ever seen/played with was. His answer Neil Back

Re: Favourite Players
Anthony Allen and Geoff Parling for me, neither were flashy but both just did everything so well.
I'd also throw a couple names out there as players who won't go down as all time greats but who I enjoyed watching in Miles Benjamin and Niall Morris, personally I think both could have been a top draw internationals had injury not hampered their chances

Re: Favourite Players
Rory Underwood as a prolific try scorer for club and country.
Re: Favourite Players
So many great playets, but some 9f my favorites.....Neil Back, Martin Johnson, Tim Stimpson, Geordan Murphy, Martin Corry and despite him being slightly annoying Austin Healy was a fantastic player.
