Season has ended below the Premiership
Hehehehehehehehe
Re: season has ended below the prem
Will be interesting to see how they sort out promotion etc. Not easy for them - someone will love it and others will hate whatever they do
Hehehehehehehehe
Re: season has ended below the prem
Does that mean Sarries avoid relegation?
God created rugby so footballers have heros too

Re: season has ended below the prem
It can't, it mustn't, mean that. There would be an outcry from the rest of the Premiership Clubs and from 99% of fans.

We just don’t know. Cancelling the season is huge it’s going to have an effect on relegation and promotion all the way down.
Newcastle are odds on to win the championship but it isn’t assured, what gives them the right to be promoted any more than say Coalville 2nds who sit at the top of Leicestershire league B.
As far as I can see they either declare this season null and void and it starts again in September, or each team gets awarded 2 points for all in played games and that’s your final league table with relegation and promotion staying as normal

Quote from the report on BBC]
"Saracens' relegation from the Premiership has already been confirmed following persistent salary cap breaches, meaning Falcons are likely to replace them in the top flight."

I hope they go with your Option B.Mark62 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 11:00 amWe just don’t know. Cancelling the season is huge it’s going to have an effect on relegation and promotion all the way down.

That would make most sense. Usually at this stage of the season it is clear who the likely league champions will be and who is going to get relegated.JP14 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 2:36 pmI hope they go with your Option B.Mark62 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 11:00 amWe just don’t know. Given the exceptional circumstances I would hope clubs would look at the bigger picture.

Re: season has ended below the prem
Wasn't there a clamour for an uneven number of teams in the Premiership by going up to 13 (ring fencing) which would give the clubs a free weekend or two in the season...so why not just do it by, relegating Saracens as confirmed and dropping to 11 teams for next season - relieve the playing burden a little on players - especially for some prior to a Lions tour (if it goes ahead).
Promote 2 from the championship next season so that, if the cheats are allowed to return after one year, another club also gets a shot so the championship has something worthwhile to play for rather than just expect the cheats to walk it.
Doesn't exactly help a Championship club this season but it would avoid one side, but not all sides, of the argument about who might have been promoted.
Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.
