This is even more depressing than the usual Tigers-related content on this forum!
Re: Could this be the end for some clubs?
Absolutely. Any current death rate, admittedly calculated from confirmed cases only, is done so in a situation where NHS resources are able to cope. That death rate can be expected to rise considerably as available resources are swamped. Tough times indeed and the world may not be quite the same place after this.ABClub wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 2:20 amBeneficial in the long run, not in the near future sadly.
Going on global stats a minimum of 2.5% with the virus end up requiring intensive care. 60% of the UK population being immune would require just under 40 million having been infected. 2.5% requiring intensive care would be touching 1 million needing ICU beds. For perspective NHS England has around 4,000 ICU beds at capacity.
Incredibly tough times ahead for the NHS given it's already critically underfunded and short staffed.
Stay safe everyone!

Seconded please stay safe everyone, it really is starting to get scary

Yep, stay safe, good luck to all. Get the booze in, get some books and be prepared for online to degrade or disappear.

Just when we at Tigers want more "Bums on seats!" there's no toilet paper, coronavirus to reduce the population (yet Lidl's are selling case loads of it) and now in Italy is having unattended funerals at the crematoriums. I just hope my computer does not catch a virus or we are all doomed!

An awful lot of businesses are going to have their resilience sorely tested - tragically many will fail. I can't imagine being an owner affected first by Brexit, then by flooding and now by this. Disasters like the proverbial London busses.
Re: Could this be the end for some clubs?
Like all companies, Tigers will have to cut back, including stopping recruitment (Borthwick?).
The people who will suffer are the admin staff, not the well paid executives, players and coaching staff. The well paid should be asked to take pay cuts for a period of time, if they wish the club to get through an extended period with reduced income.
Action needs to be taken now, not delayed whilst we “wait and see what happens”. That’s the way to go become insolvent.

Just to be clear, you do know that Brexit hasn’t happened yet don’t you?
Re: Could this be the end for some clubs?
Should really say 'intention to Brexit'. Having said that, Johnson will take us out with no deal on Dec 31st, even if we have the plagues of frogs, locusts and the reign of fire with floods again to follow.teds wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 12:24 pmLongshanks wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 11:39 am An awful lot of businesses are going to have their resilience sorely tested - tragically many will fail. I suppose the saving grace (clutching at straws) is that we are not at the beginning of the playing season. At least clubs have had the benefit of near normal operations September thru February.
