Exeter Chiefs - 21 March at Sandy Park

Post by ABClub »

Jones confirmed after the England game that players will return to their clubs on Monday. That gives all the players a week off before the Chiefs game.

1.Leatigaga
2.Kerr
3.Cole
4.Lavanini
5.Spencer
6.Liebenberg
7.Reffell
8.Kalamafoni

9.White
10.Ford (c)

11.Holmes
12.Hardwick
13.Tuilagi
14.Veainu
15.Steward

16.Polota-Nau
17.Genge
18.Heyes
19.Batley
20.Wells
21.Taufua
22.Youngs
23.Worth

Target the forwards where we have looked better this season. Lots of bench impact as we've tended to fall off in the second half.

Give the talented youngsters game time next to internationals in the backs. We don't have much to lose given how poor the backline has been.

Be interesting to see what team Chiefs put out.
They have indicated they are targeting the champions cup and after us they have Sale away before their quarter final against Saints.
As for Tigers I think we gel them back in as they feel comfortable, obviously Manu has his potential issues and May will have to follow HIA return protocols, but field a team with a view to having our strongest side v Barf the following Friday

At home Chiefs will always name a very strong side.

1.Hepburn 2.Cowan-Dickie 3.Williams 4.Kirsten 5.Hill 6.Vermeulen 7.Armand 8.Simmonds
9.White 10.Simmonds 11.Nowell 12.Hendrickson 13.Slade 14.O'Flaherty 15.Hogg

16.Taione/Poole 17.Moon 18.Pieretto 19.Skinner 20.Ewers 21.Maunder 22.Steenson 23.Woodburn

Sam Hill and Ian Whitten also centre options. Dollman is fit in the back three.

Yeandle is injured and Devoto serving a 4 week ban but other than that they have most their squad available.

I'd expect a very strong side after a week off with them targeting momentum going into the QF.

Probability is we will be without May and Manu. Sandy Park is a tough ask at the best of times.

Again , no excuses ; we must field our strongest possible side with the intention and belief that we can win.
Realism with regard to the task in hand but not beaten before the match even begins.
Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

Will this match be on, with this Virus problem growing, is it likely to be cancelled? I have 2 tickets and being old, I'm wondering if I should go, I also have a hotel booking. :smt017

Take advice from your GP. As I understand it, being "old" doesn't necessarily make you more at risk if you're in good health.

Latest info I could find.
AGE DEATH RATE
80+ years old 14.8%
70-79 years old 8.0%
60-69 years old 3.6%
50-59 years old 1.3%
40-49 years old 0.4%
30-39 years old 0.2%
20-29 years old 0.2%
10-19 years old 0.2%
0-9 years old no fatalities
What it doesn't say is whether the rates are likely to be higher for those with existing medical conditions or whether the existence of those conditions in the respective age groups is reflected in the death rate.

Has anyone seen any confirmation about the England players for this weekend?

I assume they'll be made available so they could be called up for final game against Italy which will probably end up being outside of an international window.

Eddie Jones said post-match on Saturday that players would be "back with their clubs on Monday (today) ...bowling line and length". Not sure what that means in terms of availability orJones's state of mind !

I'd expect Youngs to start and won't Manu be suspended? I'd imagine so in which case perhaps Worth at 13 with Reid on the bench. Otherwise, looks pretty much spot on to me
