Update on will from wills mum herself .So many friends have asked and I seem to have missed quite a few. Not waving the news around but Will’s head injury on the 4th was a damaged artery and he’s had a stroke. The damage is still in the brain on the last mri and the consultant said it could still be there in 10 years. Main problems are memory (atrocious), headaches and speech, when tired. He’s ok. Seeing another specialist on 26th.
Awful news regarding an ex-tiger if true

Now that is bad news, he is one of my favourite 'ones that got away'!
Re: Will Hurrel
Smashing lad. Hope he somehow overcomes the problems he is facing because of his head injury.
Re: Will Hurrel
I wondered where Will had gone. Terrible news. I can only wish the lad well. Tiger or no. Nobody deserves this.

Very sad to hear this, I hope he makes a good recovery and is able to lead an active life, best wishes.
Re: Will Hurrel
Always a shame to hear of Rugby players having a bad injury. I wish him all the best.
Nowadays referees decide matches, players by how much.

Re: Will Hurrel
Remember him , wish him all the best ; this goes way beyond Rugby.
Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

One of my favourite Bristol players, this is really awful news.

Re: Will Hurrel
What I did not realise is that this terrible injury to Will happened in the 50th minute of the Tigers v Bristol game on Saturday 4th January, and he had a knock before and continued to play on without HIA assessment.Replaced on 53 minute.
" He was in an awful state after the match and Tigers and A&E doctor got him straight in"!
I attach a 2 page link to Bristol's board but I am surprised that Tigers have not mentioned it seeing our medics helped get him into the hospital so quickly. https://www.rugbynetwork.net/boards/rea ... 413,page=1

I wish Will all the very best and hope for a recovery as we do not want another ex Tiger suffer like Dave Denton again.

Re: Will Hurrel
I wasn't aware that he was in that bad a state. Good luck to him, I hope he recovers quickly.
Re: Will Hurrel
I seem to recall the collision with May but don't remember any foul play by May; I think it was just a rugby incident. No doubt others have viewed it since and come to the same conclusion.
Needless to say we all wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Bristol have just said he was concussed, nothing more.

Re: Will Hurrel
Will has, tonight, posted on Facebook about what happened. He has, indeed, suffered a stroke which has left him with severe headaches, suffering panic attacks and memory loss. He has thanked the family and RPA for their help and is hopeful of continuing improvement.
