Hugely disappointed and I hope it works out for Costelow, otherwise I will be even more annoyed at him.

RugbyPass.com:
"South African back row Cyle Brink will join Leicester Tigers next month after the Lions agreed to release him from his contract with immediate effect.
The powerful 26-year-old is currently working his way back to fitness following a ruptured Achilles tendon and is not expected to be available until next season.
However, having successfully cut short the final eight months of his Lions deal, Brink is free to link up with Geordan Murphy’s Tigers in April."

He's a decent player but it seems really odd to essentially agree to pay for his rehab for months before he's even pulled on a Tigers jersey. A ruptured Achilles is no joke either.strawclearer wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2020 12:54 pm RugbyPass.com:

If we want to sign him surely it makes more sense to have him rehab here?

Then, perhaps it's best for Tigers that he leaves now rather than later.MurphysLaw wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2020 11:52 amYou can understand why talented players will want to move back to their country to help get them into their National team, but it is such a shame that we could not keep a hold of him for at least a couple more years. I feel he could have continued to learn much from working with George Ford.
On a wider point, does it beg the question as to whether the academy should use its resources to develop non EQPs?
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….

How could he pass a medical if he's ruptured his Achilles?strawclearer wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2020 12:54 pm "South African back row Cyle Brink will join Leicester Tigers next month after the Lions agreed to release him from his contract with immediate effect."

he's already into the rehab phase so assuming its medically stable and he's just doing the physio to strengthen and increase mobility then he would passCrumblingTerrace wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2020 1:58 pmHow could he pass a medical if he's ruptured his Achilles?strawclearer wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2020 12:54 pm "South African back row Cyle Brink will join Leicester Tigers next month after the Lions agreed to release him from his contract with immediate effect."

I believe Owen Williams is out of contract from Glous. this season, no I am not advocating a return for him but with Costelloe joining Scarlets it could block his "return to the homeland plans"longlivethecrumbie wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2020 11:38 amBelatedly getting their own back for us nabbing Owen Williams from them a few years ago
I too hope it goes well for Sam's return to "the green green grass of home!"

Cyle Brink is exactly the type of player we need in the back-row, so I think he could be a fantastic signing.
My only reservation is that a ruptured Achilles is a serious injury to come back from. Depending on the severity, there's not guarantee you get back to where you were pre-injury.

Will be interesting to see how the backrow shapes up next season, there was talk that we are looking for a big No.8 but I'm not sure if that is what we are bringing Brink in for, that said a back row of 6. Leibenberg, 7. Taufua, 8. Brink would be tasty

Brink now confirmed by the club on tigers twitter feed.
In old money he’s just over 6ft 4 and 17 and 1/2 stone. I would say you wouldn’t want your 8 much bigger than that especially if he is an explosive runner

Not exactly been injury free recently ; really hope this is behind him now.
Potentially good signing , whispers about him for a long time finally come to fruition .

Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....

My main concerns with Brink are injury record & if he blocks some of the youngsters coming through.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

6. Liebenburg, Wells, Lewis, Lavin
7. Taufua, Reffell, Gough
8. Brink, Smith
Don't know what's happening with Coghlan and Thompson. Kalamafoni is supposed to be off and it looks like Brink is his replacement. Currently it looks like the young guys will be getting chances next season. I wonder if we'll do a swap with Notts, Coghlan for Boladau as he'd offer handy squad back up for a season more. Given the amount of time he's been out with his neck injury I worry about Guy's career after this season.
