England v Ireland

Post by Chobbsy »

What sort of team will he pick? the same as the Scotland game?

I believe we need an established number 8 as he will be up against CJ Stander, centres are also crucial, I think the rest of the pack are a match for the Ireland pack

A lot of this England team want revenge for St.Patrick’s Day 2018, but I doubt a repeat of August’s thrashings is on the cards.

Mako George Sinckler
Launchbury Lawes
Underhill Earl Curry
Youngs Ford
Tuilagi Slade
Thorley Watson May

Genge LCD Stuart Itoje Kruis Heinz Farrell Daly

Let’s change things up and see what England can do with a different leadership dynamic on the pitch. Surely at this stage seeing what strength in depth we have is more important that just results.

Not sure how many of them will be fit.
The one you've overlooked is Cowan-Dickie who should be back from paternity leave!

I doubt Manu will be fit.
Daly will be shoehorned in somewhere.

Praying for less kicking 'into space' with Larmour in the backfield, that boy has magic feet. It's so hard to predict what this England setup will do as if the team vs the All Blacks shows up we'll win by 20+, if the team of recent weeks makes an appearance I don't think we've got the attacking intent to make an impression on a formidable Irish defence.

Manu Tuilagi is available for England's Six Nations match against Ireland after recovering from a groin injury, says head coach Eddie Jones.

He'd better be right and he'd better not break him!

Personally very happy that Manu's injury appears to be short term. Having missed out on the Calcutta cup, it must mean when we get him back we can play him in one more game before he hits his limit

From an English standpoint a repeat of last season would not go amiss ; very much a high-point along with the defeat of the All Blacks at the world cup.

Unless I'm mistaken from 2019-20 elite players will be limited to 30 lots of 80 minutes or 35 involvements in a matchday squad, whichever comes sooner.

During the WC Manu Played 5 times.

So far this season for Tigers he has played 5 times.

Total involvement so far this season 10 times prior to 6N.

Assuming he gets selected for every remaining 6N game that puts him on 14.

If he is away for the remainder of the 6N and assuming best case scenario is available for selection for the Exeter Away fixture then I make it that he can participate in a maximum of 9 GP games this season. That would put him on 23 for the season.

Given each player can have up to 35 involvements that still leaves plenty of games for him to feature in the knockout stages of the Challenge Cup and up to and including the final, should we reach it.

I think that he should have enough games remaining regardless. Just my thoughts, might have miscalculated somewhere but pretty sure we’ve got him and all of our England contingent for the remainder of the season, injury permitting of course.

Thanks for the hard sums. Optimistic to see more of our internationals after 6N now.

The World Cup warm ups also count so I think you need to add on Manu’s involvement in these (and George , Johnny and YBY)
