Furbank is an interesting choice to start and I wish him well.

Very strong pack both starting and off the bench. Backs in the main as expected.

Looking forward to a good win on Sunday :smt041

At some point soon EJ will have to blood new talent in the halfbacks, especially 9.

I think he will but there is no great rush. Winning the 6 Nations has to be top priority for now and there are a number of young half backs who will no doubt get their chances, most probably off the bench.

Confirmation from EJ that Marler and Genge being in the 23 is a selection decision with the 6 day turnaround in mind, not down to an injury to Vunipola.

With all the quality up and coming 8s about playing Curry there seems dubious, has he ever played there before? Does he have the ball control to keep it locked in at the base of an advancing scrum?

I think that Eddie (as with most coaches) prefers players that he has built trust with, this is normal in my experience.
I also think that England are needing to select robust players, the pressure not to injure club players is present and I think that Eddie looks carefully at injury history (especially up front) when making decisions.
I wouldn't put it past young Curry to make the other 8's look limited.
I'd add that France away will be a very tough game for anyone.

I’m not a fan of playing 2nd rows at 6, especially when there’s an outstanding young 6 who’s been ignored. And at 8, surely we should have an experienced player selected? Ok, Curry is an outstanding wing forward and he’ll undoubtedly give 100%, but he’s not an international class 8! Sorry boys, but I’ve a feeling that these young froggies will pull off a narrow victory 🙁

Is finally putting Daley to the wing an admission that he might not be the best full back around?

Curry at 8 is odd, but by no means unusual for Eddie to play players out of position just to shoehorn them into the team. Mike Brown on the wing, Farrell at centre, daily at fullback, Laws at 6, it seems he has his best 15, then figures out where they should play! Mind you, there's no doubt he knows his onions, it's just I don't get it!

What younger 9's are in the squad?

Edit - there's only Alex Mitchell in the apprentices squad as far as I can see, so no chance of blooding new 9's in this tournament!

Unless Lenny or Willi get crocked? Where would you go then? Back to Danny?

Some interesting choices could be forthcoming? It's a long few weeks.

Surprised to see Ewels start, Curry is a great player but I don’t think this Pocock-like experiment will work.

Surprised to see Daly on the wing, but maybe Jones has decided (like many others) that Daly is perhaps not quite the answer to England's 15 question.

Curry at 8 is not what I expected either, but like BFG I wouldn't put it past him to excel there. Don't forget, 8 is just a number, we don't know what plans Eddie has. Gone are the days when the number on your back dictated exactly what your role was.

Great opportunities for Ewels and Furbank, I hope they both stake their claims for the rest of the tournament.

To be fair, he played the 2nd half of a couple of RWC matches at 8.

Eddie is hinting in interviews that will kick to the corners and back the defence to keep them locked down, Scoring off their mistakes. The back row makes sense for those tactics.. let’s see if it works. The French backline looks insane so kicks will have to be on point or could be carnage.
