I must admit to not knowing anything about the bloke as prior to 2015 I was just too busy to take any notice.
I'd attend matches (when I could ) and that was it.

In 1995 Griffiths was one of the real good guys. A frighteningly young CEO of SARFU. After the World Cup Luyt fired him, jealous about the praise given to Griffiths for the South African WC 'One team, One Country' success.

He arrived at Sarries full of great marketing ideas but also came under the influence of the Right Honourable Nigel Wray. He also acted as go-between with Wray and apartheid era billionaire, the charming Johann Rupert.
