No Russell in the training squad for Saturday
Hastings had a good game so why bother with Russell.

Definitely first choice Lions 10 if you were picking the squad today,
Not with Gatland in charge. He'll pick Farrell and Anscombe. Maybe Biggar as a third option. He likes a 10 that can defend first and foremost.
I've never been over impressed with Anscombe's defensive quality's, for me Biggar is the pick of the bunch right now.

Gatland likes Anscombe as a fellow Kiwi. I've never been much of an Anscombe fan but some Welsh fans I know think he offers more in attack than Biggar.

Attack-wise, Biggar has improved massively at Saints.

And lest we forget, he only got his place because of his dad/uncle and not because he's a decent player.....(according to some on here)

Personally both Hastings and Romain Ntamack are deserving of their international success without their surnames.

Russell has an ability to cut open defences in a way that Hastings doesn’t. He’s massively improved his game management and cut out errors since he moved to France, in that his poor games aren’t as disastrously poor as they were; when he has a poor game now he’s competent in the basics for the most part. The next four years is the peak for a player at 10, Im looking forward to seeing him for Scotland when he has another 10 pushing him for game time.

Sorry but I think the Scots selectors are a bit wiser than you.

I dont for one minute believe Hastings would've started if there wasnt a row mate

I think you are quite right, Hastings would not have started if Russell had not overstepped the mark, Hastings has done nothing wrong and the selectors will stick by him. I'm far from a Scot supporter I really don't care, but if someone thinks they can just ignore team rules he deserves what he gets. I've always thought him a flashy liability!
