Finn Russell
He has, apparently, left the Scotland camp for undisclosed reasons and is likley to miss the entire 6 Nations!

Re: Finn Russell
The way it was originally worded made me think it wasn’t an injury.
Breach of protocol, maybe he thought he should be skipper ahead of Hogg

Re: Finn Russell
More likely he’s fallen out with GT over tactics.

Re: Finn Russell
Not with Gatland in charge. He'll pick Farrell and Anscombe. Maybe Biggar as a third option. He likes a 10 that can defend first and foremost.

Re: Finn Russell
On the rare occasions when I played 10 that was my philosophy. You want your 10 on his feet directing things. Gatland power game will have a big 10 then probably some big centres.strawclearer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 7:47 pmBack in the day, that's what a 7 was for! Re: Finn Russell
Never saw Cusworth make a tackle, he used to sort of put his hands up in a sort of surrender mode, then Dosser would take them out at ankle height, that Mr Wilkinson has a lot to answer for...strawclearer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 7:47 pmBack in the day, that's what a 7 was for! To win is not as important as playing with style!
Re: Finn Russell
Sounds like he had too much to drink and didn’t train Monday.

Saw a great meme this morning -
Sources close to the matter reveal that
Finn Russell was disciplined for multiple offences
in breach of Scottish team protocol:
1. Breaking the gain line
2. Running at pace
3. Making first up tackles; and
4. Bringing a winning mentality
To be confirmed!

Re: Finn Russell
Seems a bit harsh to boot him out for going out on the lash with his mates who he might not have seen for ages, does feel sometimes like the game is too quick to forget these lads are in their mid 20s and still learning about life. Even three pints deep he'd still be their best player!

I think that he was always going to be walking a fine line with some of the self interested taking over.CitizenSmiff wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 12:28 pm Seems a bit harsh to boot him out for going out on the lash with his mates who he might not have seen for ages, does feel sometimes like the game is too quick to forget these lads are in their mid 20s and still learning about life. Hastings I don't rate, I've seen better in National Two!
Possibly led to Russell not giving a!
I mean did anyone ever hear of a player actually asking for the captaincy and getting it, back in my day of you made such a request then you might get the opportunity, in the fourth team!
Re: Finn Russell
Had a bit much to drink, missed training on the Monday. Was told he'd was out of the Irish game for the breach of protocol. Was offered the choice to help the team train or return to Paris a day early (all the exiles return to their clubs this weekend, don't have to be released until 6 days before a game). Went back to Paris.
Townsend is just playing games with Eddie Jones for the Calcutta Cup game.
