Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal
If would be helpful if PR published the report in full and then were more open. Nothing will be confirmed until a statement is made and any opportunity for appeal completed. If Tigers change team selection and then an appeal allows them back in we would go down. Most of thus is 1+1=3 with current information.
The coinvestments were originally said to only count towards the cap in the year they were made. I do not know the detail of share capital invested by Wray vs the play or the interest rates on loans to the company by Wray and any directors loans made by the company to the player. If capital or loan or rates of loan was still giving a benefit the the player in this year the if would seem sensible for that benefit to count in year. Many players have not had co-investments. I presume they are on similar contracts to those other clubs would give them but those with co-investments may have accepted lower contracts terms. These are the culpable players, and sadly they are dome if the big England names. It is similar to the contractors who dodged tax by being paid to an offshore company who then game the the salary as s loan they would never have to pay back. This is obviously a scam and any arrangement that takes benefit as a player outside salary cap is an equal scam. So the club does not pay the topstars as much within the cap? It should be reasonably easy to check this. That allows other slots to be allocated more funds, so they can afford better players in those slots and/or more players in the squad. If they are still over the cap now is that do to the co-investments still being a benefit or more blatant over spending. All needs clarification and not change in Tigers until it is very clear what is happening.

Will certainly make the remainder of this season less stressful that’s for sure!
Home QF, guaranteed Premiership rugby next season, Borthwick inbound fairly soon and some promising signs that the team and coaches are moving in the right direction.. Not to mention some great additions to the squad with Taufua, Lavanini and Liebenberg.. think I might crack open a bottle of something.. anyone for a drink...?

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal
The only way to end this fully is by all the details being made public & full cleanse at Sarries, they shouldn't be allowed back up (personally I wouldn't let them) until they can prove they are clean & they genuinely apologise & hand back the I'll gotten gains.
Until then, let them rot.

To win is not as important as playing with style!
Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal
There needs to be a full report published with all details made available. There needs to be greater openness from ALL clubs from now on so that we can be confident everyone is paying by the rules. My greatest worry is that in time we find out that other clubs have also exceeded the cap and the whole thing becomes a joke.
Too much secrecy in the past is why we have got to this mess.
Is it too much to ask that all clubs and players sign a contract to promise full disclosure of finances and accounts to an independent auditor?
Or scrap the cap and find a different way to ensure competition and financial security.

Is it bad to say - they still havent dealt with the fact the squad is too expensive right here and now?
They will play out the season - but what if, just what if they are allowed to play out the season with all the current squad? Just doesn't seem right...

Munster won't want to lose to an English championship team

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal
They should be stripped of their titles immediately. To think they've cheated their way to English and European titles, it's absolutely disgusting.
They have massively tarnished the reputation of rugby union. Well done to the authorities for meting out such a harsh punishment. The sport is bigger than Nigel Wray's bank balance.

In my defence, I was left unsupervised….
Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal
Oh well, Sarries had the choice of opening their books or relegation, they chose the latter! Their GP and European titles should both be stripped. Its still the same squad playing in Europe!
