I don't like to moan about the ref, but this guy has made a few bizarre calls and that was never a yellow card. Looked like he put his arms up to try to block the kick - I don't think he has an obligation to move them out of the way if the Pau player decides to run at him.

Despite that, Tigers have had opportunities to be ahead but just not the accuracy on the kicks and pick ups.

Simmons has done a few good things and a few not so good things. Like Mark62 I'm a little baffled by the almost fanatical enthusiasm for him - a lot of his passes from the breakdown have been preceded by a step or two, which Youngs gets absolutely slammed for. Good potential but not quite the messiah just yet.

George Ford is the real brains of this team not Murphy, when he's not playing we look like a scratch team for a charity match.

Will we still get a home QF if we get 0 points here or are we waiting on other results?

Yes the officials have made some strange calls and missed a few things but we only have ourselves to blame for the scoreboard. Poor kicks to a world class player are only going to end up with one result.. Tigers on the back foot! Poor discipline has cost us too. Need to tighten up second half and get back within 7!

Oh, and yes.. the Pau 14.. pathetic! Call up for the French Olympic diving team inbound shortly!

Most likely we would finish 5th and be away to Castres

Yes and no we are losing the battle of the breakdown so not much the backs can do.
I know Simmons hasn’t played much but some posters do need to take their blinkers off regarding him.
Second try guy was in touch foul play or not so no advantage.
Third try ref should have checked but imo it was held onto.

Yellow card correct. I’m sorry guys but it was a second movement of the arm which connected with the head, under the current guidelines yellow all day long

Can’t finish lower than 5th as pool winners are top 5 seeds, away to Castres looking most likely at present

Basically Bordeaux would need to lose by a lot for that to happen.

Bristol 24 (Game to play)
Toulon 23 (Game to play)
Castres 23
Bordeaux 22 (Better points difference + game to play)
Tigers 22

We can't get any lower.

15 missed tackles already, probably an under estimate since on a few occasions that did not even attempt a tackle.

As soon as the team is under pressure all teamwork and organisation falls apart.

Kick chase has been dreadful for a while now, having Ben Smith at 15 just exposes it.

If we get a LBP or TBP are we better off than Castres?

sorry but this simply is not true ,when officials give dodgy Penalties in kick able range and don't bother to check dropped tries then they are responsible for the scoreboard too, Refs aren't Gods, they are not infallible, the problem is they are treated as such.

When a ref shows themselves to be incapable of managing a big time game what happens to them? So far as I can tell its absolutely nothing.

We need to improve yes, especially tackling and Simmons dumb kicking but the ref is certainly not making it easy or did you forget when he call ball is out, Wells tackled the 9 who had his hands on the ball and he gave a penalty for tackling the man without the ball?

Basically yes we would need to have a PD of -37 for Castres to overtake us.
and getting either of LBP or TBP would suggest we would have a higher PD
