Joe Batley signed on loan today

Post by Ian Cant »

Leicester Tigers have signed utility forward Joe Batley on loan from fellow Premiership side Bristol Bears.

The 23-year-old has turned out twice for the Bears so far this season, with both appearances coming in the Premiership Cup.

Batley can be recalled to Bristol at any time and has also been on a dual registration deal with Hartpury.

"This is a good opportunity for Joe to get game time at a very competitive level," Bristol boss Pat Lam said.

Is this due to an injury to someone?

Who knows Liebenburg I would guess who is a very big loss.

This says it all about our chronic tightfisted management.
GO AND PURCHASE A BLINKING GREAT HULKING SOUTH SEA ISLANDER WHO MIGHT MAKE A DENT IN THE OPPOSITION. Not a second rater from Bristol who will report all our non-moves.

Just do this Easy Clap
At 6 foot 7 and nearly 20 stone he isn't tiny.

Also what South Sea Islander should we get?
Is a second rate Bristol player better or worse than elsewhere?

Say it to his face!

I'm sure the players read the boards.

Do you want him to be seen as second rate before he has a chance?

Welcome Joe - let's see what you've got!

I think this is a very unpleasant and ill-thought out post

His loan is subject to the fact that he can be recalled back to Bristol at any time

With Sam Lewis pushing for a starting spot, is Joe a replacement for him with Sam moving up for Liebenberg.

Anyway the last unknown we got from Bristol turned out ok

Makes sense. If they have an injury crisis they'll want him back to help cover.

That is really a quite appalling response to a young player temporarily joining Tigers and helping us out.

In simple terms if we are spending to the limit of the salary cap there is very little wriggle room to bring in a hulking great South Sea Islander to sit on our bench and play for our second/development team. In the past we have taken raw young locks and back rows and turned them into diamonds like Corry, Parling and Slater, this may or may not happen in this instance but lets not condemn our club for trying, welcome this guy to our club and lets see what ability and ambition he has before dismissing him as second rate, no one starts as world class and big young men need time and experience to mature to that level.

Whilst I hope he could turn out to be the next Ed Slater, I don’t want to him to turn out to be the next James Voss.

I think Pat Lam has more integrity than to send a Trojan Horse.

If everyone had the same attitude as one of the posers on here I wonder how Joe Batley felt coming here?

His tenure here helping us and could be ‘Sale or return’ or ‘try before you buy’.

Hopefully the majority are more open minded.
