6. Green
When Reffell is on the bench.
Lewis not even in the squad
It’s like Murphy lacks a backbone in his selections.

I get being concerned about Exeter’s lineout and pack but playing someone who never played 6 before over Reffell and Lewis....

Fail to see how Lewis hasn’t been rewarded for his current form with at least a place on the bench. Even Wells makes more sense at 6 than Green. Odd selection.

I could be wrong; but I think he played 6 a bit when he was first coming through.

That back row is going to be eaten alive on Saturday.

I get the idea of the selection, trying to fight fire with fire and take on their pack up front. Easier said than done though and could end in disaster. Especially if Exeter up the tempo and play with width. Seems that Thompson and Taute are injured.

Pretty much as expected then but you are right... strange decision with Green at 6

Not sure how you come to that conclusion when 2 of the 3 are what everyone was predicting and Exeter will come loaded with a big back row

So surely there is some backbone in picking Green out of position to cope with a perceived threat. Not saying I agree but it could be said it’s a brave selection.

You really wonder at times, none of the back row players in the preferred positions, the continuing errors in forward selection is mind bending. Looks like a return to the select all the senior 2nd rows at once.

Sam Lewis must be utterly gutted.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

4 at 6, 8 at 7, 6 at 8, 7 on the bench and the best 6 we have on current form not even in the squad. Did I get hit on the head and it's 2018 all over again, please no!

Mix and match from chiefs. Still very strong but Nowell, White, Cowan-Dickie and neither of the Simmons not even in the match day 23

Well the reasons for selection I think are obvious, a mauling is feared.
Sad times when Leicester are more worried about the opposition than their own game.
Here is hoping that the Leicester kickers bring their best kicking boots and don't start playing British bulldog against those Exeter backs because there may well be some large spaces to attack given the pack selection.

It does seem a bit odd.Maybe they will switch around during the game. But, assuming Thompson is injured, why not go with 6 - Kalamafoni, 7 Reffell, 8 - Taufua, and have Lewis and Green on the bench?

Please give me the reasoning behind your statement. They’ve got 2 big blokes and 1 ex 7 playing at 8, we have very similar.
I would be a lot more worried if Simmons was playing at 8 and Nic White at 9

Wonder if the Lavanini, Spencer & Green combo is to put pressure on their line out and drive game.

I do agree that a Kala, Reffell and taufua backrow would have been more balanced though.

What is the weather forecast?
