Disagree on the front row options.
Heyes - England U20
Whitcombe - England U18
Hardwick - England U18
Vanes - England U18
Although the point made by BFG on protecting certain players is valid pretty obvious why Hookers (well until Vanes) and centers had a big lapse during a certain time period.

Re: A team up
Front-rows always mature later.
Re: A team up
Yes he did, and then was moved up to loose head originally by the county selectors to get him into the side as the county number 8 and captain was a lad by the name of Alex Shawsam16111986 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 6:07 pmDidn't Dan Cole play 8 until 16 when he switched to the dark arts of tighthead?
Re: A team up
Back rows converting to front row later on, often due to lacking pace for the back row, isn't actually much new though. Sheridan didn't convert to prop until his 20's whilst with Bristol for instance. Genge and Cole both moved late on.
Of the more recent Tigers converts, Grahamslaw is very highly rated by the Scotland age grade set-up as a loosehead.
Charlie Beckett on the other hand settled into the second row after a brief crack at tight head. He's playing well with Jersey these days in the Championship.
Lynx Noumey is a real athlete and looked a promising flanker so his move to prop will be interesting. There's a lot of competition for back row spots coming through the set-up, especially with Kit Smith and Emeka Ilione in the academy, so it could open up opportunities for him.

I’m talking about the age group under (16 and 17 year olds).RagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 5:56 pm Disagree on the front row options.

Re: A team up
This was always about individual performance, a lot of these players have been playing for different championship clubs therefore cohesion was never going to be as good as Gloucester’s who’s players simply just play for Hartpury where the first team train anyway.

Re: A team up
Is that a fair excuse, after all were we not forecasting a win or are we not as good as we were lead to believe?JP14 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2019 9:07 am This was always about individual performance, a lot of these players have been playing for different championship clubs therefore cohesion was never going to be as good as Gloucester’s who’s players simply just play for Hartpury where the first team train anyway.
