...not according to Bristol who were 17-0 down at half time against a strong Chiefs team. Once again Murphy trots out the same uninspiring rhetoric with no real insight or breakdown of the facts. We have a talented squad who are made to look less than ordinary not just by the opposition.

Loved him as a player, Hate him as our coach.
Needed to go elsewhere to learn his craft then he may have been a good coach.
Why else would Pat Howard be brought in as a "Mentor" for Murphs.

Sorry but he has to move sideways before he looses the respect he had as a Top player.

After an abysmal season in 2018/19, the interesting question for me has always been: 'If not now, when?'

8 straight defeats at the start of the season was deemed not the time to part with Geordan, when he was interim Head Coach.

Finishing the season in 11th, our worst ever finish, was deemed not the time either.

We're now bottom of the table after the first handful of games. If things don't improve, how long before the Board take action?

Well if Borthwick is joining us, apart from a well earned break I cannot see any reason why he has not yet done so apart from having to complete the six nations.

If British Airways planes kept on falling our of the sky, and the rate at which they did so started to accelerate and nothing was done to stop it. At some point in time, the public would wonder what the CEO was doing about it. And if the CEO said "the planes aren't my responsibility, nor is the quality of training, or customer service, or the company financials, or the baggage arrangements or the catering......." people would wonder what the CEO was being paid for.

Sports clubs are a little different from other businesses. It's unusual to have someone who has the business experience and the sporting knowledge. Therefore, the CEO is often responsible for the business side of things (this means making it sustainable long term and able reinvest in the core activity and purpose of the club, not necessarily making profit or breaking even in the short term) and will work with the board to appoint the right person to run the sporting side of things - the board or a committee within the board will usually have the final say in this.

To summarise, the CEO may have little responsibility for sporting success.
