Reason May is struggling for offers and Manu was not though.

Even with the prices touted.

If each of us chucked a tenner into the pot, do you think it'd be enough to keep Jonny May at the club?!

Not 100% sure why you can't have 2 players who have been at the club at least 2 years as marquee though.
A second marquee player can be recruited who is new to Premiership rugby next term and has not played in the competition for at least 12 months.
That seems... odd...

Take Sarries as an example. Maro Itoje and Owen Farrell two of the best (arguably) players in the world. But they can't have them both as marquee players? It would be a simple amendment too "A second marquee player can be recruited who is new to Premiership rugby next term and has not played in the competition for at least 12 months; or an academy graduate who have been at the club for a minimum of three consecutive years."

May is miles more valuable to us than Manu.. We have wasted six years waiting for Manu to flourish. Sorry folks, it isnt going to happen. Sell him, allow him a massive Japanese pay day to cement his future and put the money into a couple of nasty concrete South Sea centres who can do exactly what Manu does but off load and tackle...

There’s a 52% chance he didn’t.

its also a myth that he doesn't offload, what he does is hold onto the ball as he has no support runner

trendylfj wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2020 3:56 pm I have said it before and I hope that I am wrong but if Manu is our marque player on £500K he is not worth that money. He has played an average of 10 games for us per season over the last 6 seasons and scored 3 tries per season. Jonny May averages 14 games per season and has scored 10 tries per season and I would much rather keep him than Manu and is on half the money if reports are correct. I don't want to lose either but if push came to the shove JM every time.
Manu has certainly been unlucky with injuries and this recent one doesn't bode well for him or Tigers that's for sure. I really like Manu but with we definitely need somebody who can offer more than 10 games per season. The near constant rotation amongst the centres never allows partnerships to fully develop.

Who were the last 2 centres that we had at the club who got a decent run of games together and cemented a solid partnership.. struggling to think although it might be the Hobgoblin...

If it was so easy to sign a cut price Manu then why has no one else in the Prem done so?

Manu doesn't break the line like he used to because teams mark him two or three on one, and while i'm sure that's frustrating for the lad it does create opportunities elsewhere on the field. I'd put money on us seeing more of his value with a more competent coaching structure in place.

Ah yes the annual "let's just sign a couple of 18 stone islanders who run 100m in 11 seconds and have the handling of a Sevens gold medallist but no ones heard of them yet" conversation.

Whilst we're at it at it King Country apparently have an EQP lock playing for the NZ u20s who went to school at Robert Smyth.

I've no idea why we don't just sign number 8s from the Leicester Constabulary as well. I've heard of some big bloke called PC Richards who will probably play for free meals after training and some cash in hand under the table.

Wait... What decade is it?
