Currently, South African and Pacific Island players are regarded as Kolpak players, so are seen as "non-foreign". Two "foreign players" can play at the same time in any Premiership team.

The ECB have reportedly advised county cricket teams that Kolpak players will count as foreign players after the UK leaves the EU at the end of the year.

Murphy: “The laws stand as they are for the guys that are in the country. When and if changes are made, we will be notified.

Murphy: "At the moment we are operating under the current rules.

"It is a concern. Brexit is a strange one because there is a lot of doubt about a lot of things, and people don’t have the answers.

"We want to carry on, be proactive when and where we can.
I'm not sure how are Argentine signings are counted, they're not in Kolpak so presumably just through european connections? But, for arguments sake, let's say this were to effect our current squad. We may have to choose between 2 of Liebenburg, Taufua, Lavanini, TPN, Veainu, Kalamafoni, Boladau, Cortes, Gigena, leatigaga, Taute, Viljoen. And of course, if we had to have a clear out with payoffs to settle incomplete contracts, we might have problems keeping a decent team and stay in the cap. I can see why Murphy would be worried, and he feels he needs to be proactive. This could well be affecting any negotiations for new contracts/players.
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….

Presumably the quota of foreign players is decided by PRL?

He said the laws stay as they are for the guys that are in the country already. Therefore I assume it only impacts future signings.

Brexit truly the gift that keeps on giving 🤣🤣

Article in the Mail about May and Youngs having to take pay cuts! Does say both still likely to stay!

Realistically May is worth more than Youngs (IMHO tin hat on!) but I agree if we can get that sort of value it's very good news.

I don't see a club in the prem who needs a winger that badly and also has enough room in the cap to get May, Newcastle maybe?

Without wanting to wish that sort of pay cut on anyone, retaining the both would be great news. If May's new contract is £200k for a world class winger it does make me wonder what squad players earn and its no surprise one club players are becoming a thing of the past.

“While neither have signed up yet, they are likely to stay.”

Probably journo speak for ‘we have no idea what they are going to do’.

I dislike them but the Mail is very accurate with rugby stuff on the whole.
If neither are getting offers then, I guess it makes sense to believe they will stay.

Be great if we could keep May. Nadolo on one wing with May on the other and rotate with Veanu and Holmes :smt003
