Costelow is apparently off.
IF true I wouldn't play him at all in any of the Challenge cup/ A league games TBH.

That's disappointing. Agreed, give someone else the opportunity.RagingBull wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 2:16 pm Costelow is apparently off.

Will we see Tigers and other Premiership clubs less eager to invest in the development of Welsh youngsters in future?
Off to Scarlets I imagine.

That's a massive shame, he certainly has the talent to be a top level player and its a real gut punch to have spent the resources to bring him through for him to leave just as he is about to step up, that said Scarlets may have offered him way more money and a guarantee of a place in the starting Scarlets 23 so it would be understandable from his point of view.
Does this mean Glynn might get a place in the Dev squad?

I wouldn't bother with Welsh players personally now.
Unless they are in a very competitive position like Reffell is at openside.
I would rather we used Oakham for example as a way to try and tempt players from other clubs catchments.
Or maybe even look at other countries that are more relaxed selection policies.
Despite what Simon Thomas of walesonline might think I really don't see welsh players going back to the regions helping them at all.

If Costelow is off that's very disappointing. Understandable though as he's unlikely to leapfrog Ford anytime soon whilst at Scarlets he really only needs to surpass Patchell who has been unlucky with injuries.

Agreed, and I wouldn't be surprised if Reffell is tempted over the border when his current contract is up.RagingBull wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 2:49 pm I wouldn't bother with Welsh players personally now.

I can see the attraction for someone like Costelow, especially with Ford ahead of him at Tigers, but I'm not sure he'll be any better off in the long run.

problem is we didn't bother with a Welsh player in Holmes then suddenly he was Welsh so you could be ruling out a lot of talented players if you take that stanceRagingBull wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 2:49 pm I wouldn't bother with Welsh players personally now.

Holmes is different and wouldn't compare.Jimmy Skitz wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 2:59 pmproblem is we didn't bother with a Welsh player in Holmes then suddenly he was Welsh so you could be ruling out a lot of talented players if you take that stanceRagingBull wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 2:49 pm I wouldn't bother with Welsh players personally now.

TBH I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't know Holmes was Welsh qualified.
I'm just saying I would rather our Academy didn't have an eye on Wales and would rather the link up with schools like Oakham was used as a carrot for other things. Not saying forget all welsh qualified players in general.

No point in developing players who are just going to go back to the Regions. Appears Wales are targeting ones based in England so what’s the point in giving them game time.
If Costelow is leaving then no point in playing him in any further games.

I also think it best we leave young Welsh players alone. The writing appears to be on the wall now.

Oakham lad born and bred, Tigers season ticket holder who is enjoying steady progression back towards the good old days!

Veianu to the wing with Worth or Steward at 15 is another option, Eastmond or Reid would be at 12OakhamTiger32 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 9:14 pm Fill in the blanks for 2020/21:
