Rory Hughes in on loan.

Says until the end of the season, maybe suggests Jonah out for a bit longer or is it for Aspland-Robinson? Either way that length suggest injury dispensation?

Wait for all the doom-mongers to say “what another average player, why can’t we sign Beuden Barratt or Teddy Thomas “.

Looking at the scottish teams out of contract players.
Duhan Van der Merwe has to be the the player most clubs will want.
What a replacement he would be for May potentially although I think he wants to play for Scotland which would keep him in.
As would be McInally and Toolis

Is moaning about the moaning really any more helpful or constructive? People are entitled to their opinions, getting cheap shots in early isn't doing anybody any favours.

I’m just expressing my opinion which is apparently what you are advocating

I’ve never heard of him so can’t express an opinion of any substance, but 6 tries in 48 appearances as a winger doesn’t scream quality replacement to me. That being said we clearly need cover so I’m sure he will be a welcome addition to the squad for the rest of the season

A Scotland cap, 6ft and 16 stone. So he's big and at one time was rated up north. A cheap punt to see if we can make anything of him before the end of the season. About 6 years younger than Thompstone so could be seen as a possible long term replacement if he takes his chance.
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 2
Hughes looks like Thompstone v2; similar in build and in playing style. Pretty physical without being electric quick. Wonder where he’ll fit in in the pecking order. Just hope he’s better than the last winger from Scotland who barely got any minutes... Sarto

I agree entirely.
I would like to exert my 63rd Amendment Rights under the Forum's Constitution to express my opinion without fear or favour and say how well I thought it went last year in the same positions with Messrs. Sarto and Varndell.
I guarantee that Rob Hughes will be no less successful than the aforementioned.

Injury dispensation for Aspland-Robinson.
We’ll see where he fits in. He’ll have to be doing well to get in ahead of some of the others. Could be useful for the Euro games and the 6N.

Actually think Hughes could be a great replacement for Thompstone, we’ve been crying out for some physicality in the back three. Also looks good under the high ball, good kick chase, bit of breakdown ability with a huge boot.

He could be. He’s probably going to have to fight for game time (how much did we see of Varndell and Sarto?); if he gets it I suppose there’s every chance he could get a look-in for a permanent deal (although he’s probably arrived at the wrong end of the season).Leicestertinytiger wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 6:28 am Actually think Hughes could be a great replacement for Thompstone, we’ve been crying out for some physicality in the back three.
