Bristol do tend to splash the cash to get who they want (half a mil on Nathan Hughes for example).

That's true! They just outbid the rest of the rugby world for Radradra; the Piatau bros and their reserve fly-half are reputed to be in the 500k bracket.

Only so many players you can splash the cash on. Doubt Bristol would have been able to offer much more, if any, than us. I suspect their bid would maybe have tried to emphasise emotional ties to the city to lure him back.

It really doesnt take a rocket scientist to work out that there are a multitude of illegal ways to get round a salary cap is so wished...
Which is why so many Chairmen are upset - they all agreed not to do that and stay within the spirit of the cap.

If this is correct it's great news.Ellis has the character to go with the ability.
I spent a bit of time chatting to him at the Calvisano match. I hope this doesn't sound condescending - he's a very impressive young man - committed to his team-mates and motivated by a strong moral compass. A future Tigers Captain imho.

The captaincy mantle is thrown around too easily imho, it doesn’t suit everyone and not everyone wants it.
I do agree though that Ellis had grown out of all proportion from the rough diamond that arrived. He has watched listened and learnt
Good stuff, to go through something that traumatic at a young age and get back in the game in a year is very impressive. Don't know much about him as a player but he looks like a massive unit who can cover a few positions.
