Who’s going to replace Cheika?

Post by JP14 »

Cheika has formally announced he “won’t be seeking an extension” for 2020 therefore has more or less resigned, who replaces him. I personally think Brad Thorn would do a good job, not exactly set the world on fire with the Rebels but I think he will do more for the Wallabies than Daryl Gibson.

wessels would be my money from a super rugby side.

In reality I would put money on Dave Rennie.

Was talk of Rennie and Wisemantel combo for Aus in the summer.

He's probably frantically doctoring his CV as we speak.

Both Rennie or Wessels would be good.

If they have any common sense-------which is doubtful-they should go for Jamie Joseph.
As should Tigers. Both in the same boat, wonderful opportunities, lousy boards and diabolical decision making.

Isn't Eddie in contract after RWC and I don't think Aus have the money for a buy out.

Joesph also close to staying in Japan from reports.

Eddie’s here for at least another 2 years, stipulation being that ENG would reach the semifinals in Japan which is what has been achieved. He might change his mind and leave after the World Cup but if he is to leave in 2021 then RFU would need to handle it carefully, as only South Africa have benefited from a new coach in the middle of the inter-World cup period.

It was an extension and none of us know the breaks in it. He will definitely coach them at some point,a winning WC would be a great time to bow out on.
