Borthwick

Post by fentiger »

Just seen a Tweet from Chris Egerton that he understands Steve Borthwick will be coming to Tigers after the World Cup date and role TBC.

Fabulous news if true.
Maybe a bit harsh on Bakewell, forwards seemed better against Exeter, assume he’s the one going.
Imagine it’ll be Murphy DOR , Borthwick, Head coach/forwards, Ford Backs

Good news if true providing it doesn’t mean multiple changes of coaches again :smt003

It's a re-working of the Times story a couple of weeks ago.

Not sure I like the inference that Murphy may not feel he's been given the time to complete the job? I would like to think that he would be DoR with Borthwick HC, what do others think?

I would imagine Borthwick would be coming in with the full knowledge and consent of Murphy

Or does Egerton know more than he's been able to print? Interesting times.

If Geordan was being replaced he would have left at the end of last season

he was sacked for gross incompetence, this is a planned addition to the coaching team, if Geordan was being replaced he would have gone and Mike Ford appointed caretaker until after the World Cup

Could be Borthwick as DoR, as Gustard has done at Quins. I think Borthwick could be / will be a really astute appointment. Ambitious guy with a good coaching reputation already.
