Re: Borthwick
And no doubt, by the time comes round, we will have a couple of great international coaches available...….
Leicester Tigers 1995-
Nottingham 1995-2000
Swansea (Whites) 1988-95
A game played on grass in the open air by teams of XV.

Re: Borthwick
Is the Panto season is still with us - A November start for Mr Borthwick would be the start of the next Panto season.
Ambiguity and rumour rife "Will he - won't he ...... Is he - isn't he....... After 6N -June - November" Oh yes he is Oh no he isn't"
And all this talk is like the coming of the Massiah.
Lets just get on with the Job at hand For me Deac's has made the biggest impact within the existing coaching set up.

Agree about Deacs I think things have improved markedly since Bakewell departurewellstiger wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 2:47 pm Is the Panto season is still with us - A November start for Mr Borthwick would be the start of the next Panto season.

Re: Borthwick
Have Bakewell's departure and Deacon's promotion not also coincided with Taufua and Lavanini becoming regulars?
Either way, things have definitely been better since then and the players need to continue to focus on the "now" and work hard to improve. Borthwick may or may not be a huge success, he is unproven at this level of seniority, but I'm very confident he'll be an excellent signing.

Re: Borthwick
The article reads as though Ryles starts in November, not necessarily meaning that Borthwick finishes in November.
I saw Marika Vunibaka play
Re: Borthwick
It’s a fair point re Taufua and Lavanini, slightly tempered by the time they’ve not played in the challenge cup etc.Tiglon wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 2:59 pm Have Bakewell's departure and Deacon's promotion not also coincided with Taufua and Lavanini becoming regulars?

Either as you rightly say things seem to be moving in the right direction and the forwards are more of a unit.
Re: Borthwick
The one thing you really would expect that Borthwick could sort out is the lineout, which is still unreliable at best. If he can't then we simply have the wrong players.

Re: Borthwick
In his day he was a big bruiser, a no nonsense player. He was Barffs equivalent to Martin Johnno ( Poorer version)
Inspired a team and took no prisoners. Sarries benefited from his seasons with them.
Might be just the influence needed in the coaching set up. Unproven yes but brings fresh eyes. And a hair dryer approach.

Re: Borthwick
Let’s hope so. Stanko and Deacs doing a great job with the scrum but I still feel we need to improve the forwards attacking structure and tighten up our defence. Certainly moving in the right direction and we have certainly improved since the Irish & Saints games but a fair way still to go

Re: Borthwick
People seem to be pretty dismissive of Borthwick's coaching abilities, he coached Englands forwards to a world cup final and that same pack dominated every fixture in that season up to the final
Re: Borthwick
I’m not sure people are questioning his coaching abilities as you say it’s an impressive cv.
It’s possible that people are expecting him to come in as Head coach, with Murphy moving to DOR, a position he has not yet held.

Re: Borthwick
So is he actually coming or not?
Re: Borthwick
It'll be excellent to have the former Saracens player and coach on board, looking forward to it!

Re: Borthwick
Almost certainly. Not been confirmed by Tigers or Borthwick yet but it’s widely expected to happen. When, seems to be slightly less clear. Some reports say post 6N but most say end of the season.
