Certainly seemed to use his pace better
He looked quicker than last season, that's for certain.

Apologies if this has already been raised but why was Geordan in his usual place? Thought he was serving a ban?

I did ask earlier but no one seemed to know.
Unsure of the terms of his ban but I’m thinking that maybe he couldn’t have contact with the team directly or match officials on match day.
I think he was sitting one row forward with Mike Ford in his normal seat

It was certainly a performance to take positives from. However, we can’t get too carried away as on paper, we should have won but how many times last season did we say the same after we lost.

Our defence looked good and organised too.

Definitely an improvement on last season but still room to get better.

Interesting listening to Deacon after, where he said they never really played for more than 60 minutes last season.
They were obviously way of the required fitness levels last season

Talking to Geordan before the game, he is not allowed to converse with the match officials or enter the players changing rooms or pitch.
He is allowed in the stands having no direct contact with the players.

Am I alone in thinking that our scrum became more dominant after OTY went off?
With Cole and Genge out we perhaps need the extra power in the scrum that Polota Nau gives?

As much as on paper pre game we may have looked the likeliest winners , I can’t help thinking the back row Saffer lads for Exeter are good signings and in some way make our performance better than some people are giving credit for. To win a game so comfortably with a scrum that for at least 60mins was being destroyed was a good effort.

I think it was more to do with Bateman and Hayes going off tbh and the scrum didn't look that much more secure when TPN, Cortes and Gigena were on the field.

The scrum looked terrible with Gigena and Cortes on.

And yet they won a couple of scrum penalties

The scrum was poor all game to me, which was a shame as everything else was pretty spot on. Liebenberg and Green both looked handy, and Reid is already an obvious upgrade on Joe Ford as the swing/backup fly half (bar the duff kickoff). It does worry how reliant we are on Thompson to turn the ball over though.
